[edit] Transport articles

I'm glad to hear there is no bad feeling. The station articles are much richer with images. I love being a student and plan to be for as long as is practical. Mrsteviec 16:26, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] OAP

Thanks for your help! I was on completely the wrong track, trying to guess a meaning that referred to the Labour Party event, not to Wolfgang. JamesMLane 15:22, 23 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] things for deletion

Hi I noticed you supported keeping other jewish lists, all these have been nominated for deletion by User:Pilatus: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2005_November_19#List_of_Jewish_chess_players Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2005_November_19#List_of_Jews_in_sports Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2005_November_20#List_of_Jewish_Recipients_of_National_Medal_of_Science. I would also appreciate your vote on Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#Category:LGBT_criminals and Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#Category:Wealthy_fictional_characters. Thanks, Arniep 14:44, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rural London

Hello. I edited on the basis that not entirely built up is a long way from rural. There definitely isn't anywhere within the M25 that can possibly come under the definition of rural. Here's a map of what might be considered rural. [1] A related idea is that urban and suburban does not neccassarily mean continuously built-up.

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Antidote

Hi, I would appreciate if you could take a look at this, the same user responsible for nominating and renominating List of Jewish Fellows of the Royal Society, then requesting it's deletion review has also voted multiple (up to 6 times each) using multiple accounts and ip addresses on mainly Jewish and Catholic lists and categories for deletion amongst numerous other WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA violations. Thanks Arniep 02:50, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for endorsing the rfc, a vote or comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Jewish inventors would be appreciated (nominated and voted on twice by Antidote/EscapeArtistsNeverDie). Arniep 17:40, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I have fiddled with your contributions page…

…to make it more obvious just how excellent your pictures are. BTW, thank you for proving that my decision to unblock you was correct…you are doing brilliant work. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 09:22, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your photos

Love your pictures.

I'm curious, do you travel to these places specifically with the intention of taking photographs, or do you just happen to be passing through? My question has come from my seeing your picture of the Whetstone in Whetstone... did you specifically go to Whetstone to take the picture or were you there anyway? It's a stupidly trivial question, I'm just curious really! -sars 21:54, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, my interest is that I live there. I wrote most of the article, (I can say that cos it's such a small article!).

You must be very well travelled in London! Keep it up, anyway.

(Edit: Forgot to answer the other bit. I like to try the Wikifun riddles, I have never got one (that hasn't already been solved). But, nevertheless, though in vain I still pursue them! -sars 22:59, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

I noticed with this image and this imageyou'd written the template wrongly as {{GDFL-self}} and it wasn't working, so I corrected it to {{GFDL-self}}, which is presumably what you had intended. Nice compositions, but the foreground has come out a bit dark (presumably auto setting compensating for the amount of light in the sky) and I wonder whether you had considered lightening them in an image processing programme, such as Photoshop. It would make an amazing difference. Tyrenius 13:48, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah. I can see hardly any detail in the dark areas. It might be worth getting some more feedback from other people to see how it generally appears, unless your monitor is calibrated. Mine isn't, so it could be my screen of course. I'd be interested to know anyway, if you do do some more research. Tyrenius 11:43, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Honest, I'm not expecting crystal clarity all over, but on my screen on some pictures a large amount of it can be so dark that nothing's visible. On Image:West Finchley station closed.jpg, below the roof level, the only details visible are the very light bits (e.g. top of the railing, noticeboard and sky through the grill at the back), but I can't make out any other detail. I can't distinguish the bottom of the building from the ground, for example. It's all just darkness. If you can see the bottom of the building, then it's coming up differently on your screen. It might be worth looking at it on different computers. I'm not saying mine is right, just saying that's how it looks on mine. I like your compositions. You're obviously a railway station fan! [edit] Photos of tube stations

Hi! Thanks for the message, and sorry for removing the pics without reference - you're right. I didn't mean to offend or annoy. Just got carried away with pruning I guess! :|

Not sure what you meant re: the vertical alignment of the Willesden Green pics though - as far as I can tell, all I did was add a "Gallery" header in preparation for sectioning up the station articles, which is currently being discussed over at the WikiProject Underground. Maybe it's to do with screen resolutions of viewing the page and how it may have changed the layout: I usually have my screen at 1280x1024 but a lot of people use a lower setting, so I should've checked the changes at 1024x768, etc, first.

Please feel free to join the Underground Project if it's an area that interests you, but either way please don't be put off by my jumping the gun on the pics - hope you'll continue to help us all round out the articles with more of your photos!

Apologies again - HTUK 14:20, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Just checked by scaling the windows, and it seems it was the different screen sizes that I misjudged with the Willesden pics. Have tried it now with a line break to separate the pics.
There is currently a difference between some LU station pages having a straight list of [[Image...]]] pics and others using the <gallery> ... </gallery> structure (see Southgate for an example of the latter). As a regular contributor of photos, we'd welcome your thoughts at WP:Underground about the intention to standardise the layout of pics, and any ideas you have for presentation, etc. Thanks!
Hah! Just saw from the above station page history that you'd already had that gallery convo with someone else who told you off for using that format! Argh! Maybe I should just shut up now... lol... - HTUK 15:25, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Londoneye

Hey Londoneye, thankyou so much for supporting my recent RfA. It passed with an amazing final tally of 160/4/1. I feel completely blown away by the support I received from so many awesome people. If there's ever anything I can do to help you, please don't hesitate to give me a yell. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:08, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photo-taking ban?

Hi, I noticed your collection of train pictures. I'm assuming then that London hasn't officially banned the practice of taking photos of trains or stations? Over here in New York there's been an on again, off again photo ban for the last couple of years. Just wondering what other cities are doing. Wl219 07:11, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Oh, the humanity!

I had my doubts about a second RfA, but even I couldn't have predicted the way it caught fire and inexorably drifted to the ground in flames, causing quite a stir on its way down! Still, it was encouraging to see the level of support and confidence. Thank you for yours, and I hope I'll still have it the next time around. Kafziel Talk 14:02, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
