Long Point Beach
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Long Point Beach is a swimming area in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, that is considered to be a great tourist attraction. Until 2001, the beach was accompanied by a video arcade just a small walking distance to the north. To the west of the beach is a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, although that franchise is struggling to keep up business in a town that is smaller and more rustic than Delhi. There are also food stands and small variety stores near the beach that sell hot dogs, French fries, hamburgers and soft drinks. One establishment that sells all variety of goods, as well as fast foods, for daytrippers to the beach, the local cottage community and visitors and campers to Long Point Provincial Park, is BUB'S, located midpoint on the peninsula and nearest to the most scenic parts of the beach.
Typical swimming season is from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day. After that, the water gets too cold to swim in although people can walk along the beach anytime of the year. During times of El Niño, it is not uncommon for swimmers to be swimming until the end of September.
