London Tonight is the flagship news programme in the ITV London region. Produced by ITN, it broadcasts at 6pm every weeknight. Like all ITV plc regional news programmes, it uses the generic ITV font and idents.
London Tonight began on January 4, 1993, shortly after Carlton Television took over the ITV London (weekday) franchise from Thames Television. In partnership with ITV London (weekend) franchisee LWT, LNN was formed to bring about a united regional news service for the London region. LNN was dissolved shortly after the formation of ITV plc, with production for ITV London News conducted by the main ITV News provider ITN.
