London Leopards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The London Leopards are a British basketball team that competes in the English Basketball League Division 1. The team was founded in 1997 as Ware Fire and later renamed to Ware Rebels. Following a merger in 2004, the team was renamed to Essex & Herts Leopards, after the counties of Essex and Hertfordshire, which lie immediately to the north and east of Greater London. In 2006 they were renamed as London Leopards to attract a bigger fanbase from England's capital city. The team should not be confused with the now defunct Greater London Leopards, who folded in 2003, although many of the original Leopards fans now follow the new, reincarnated Leopards.
