The London Academy is a British Secondary School in Edgware North London on spur road. Formerly "Edgware School", it opened as the London Academy in 2004. It is an 11-19 school and specialises in Business with Enterprise and Information and Commucation Technology (ICT). The school is a open to all people in the cachment area. It is currently in the process of finalising a new school build with full occupancy on track for September in the new academic year (2006/7). Which is now completed and the students have entered the school. They currently have about 1400 students in the school right now 350 of them in the sixth form the schools the highest yet in the school so far. The students are completely faithful to learning.

The London Academy is one of 5 DfES Academies opened in 2004. Academies are all-ability schools established with sponsorship from business, faith or voluntary groups. The first 3 opened in 2002, and 9 more in 2003.

Sponsorship of £1.5 million was provided by the chairman of a venture capital company, Peter Shalson. Money was also raised by resale of part of the old site. It is most likely going to be turned into a set of flats.

The school received national publicity following the fatal stabbing of a 15 year old pupil, Kiyan Prince, outside the school gates in May 2006. Which was rare to the schools standerds.

This school is currently rising in grade per year because in 2005 they got there best results ever with 49% pass in GCSE and they currently have 222.4 on the UCAS points for a-level. These are currently the highest the school has ever got. The current princable is Philip Hearne. The students are truly previlged to have a great school because most schools are no-where near like this. I think its too strict now but I don't matter, its what you think. The maths depertment is good in this school as well.
