Loncosaurus argentinus |
Loncosaurus is the name given to a genus of dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous. Loncosaurus was an ornithopod which lived in what is now Argentina. The type (and only known) species is Loncosaurus argentinus, described by Ameghino in 1898, but is considered nomen dubium.
Like all ornithopods, Loncosaurus was an herbivore. The type specimen was found with carnivorous teeth mixed in with its fossils, which caused some confusion.
