LOEWE (pronounced [løwɛ]) is a German electronics manufacturer founded 1923 by Drs. Siegmund and David Loewe in Berlin. The company now is located in Kronach. It is a Germany-based supplier of electronic entertainment products.

Loewe is one of Europe’s most highly regarded brands. Their history is long and illustrious. Dr Sigmund Loewe invented the integrated circuit in the 1920’s, and in 1931 Loewe was the first company in the world to manufacture the electronic television. Many other innovations have followed, including the world’s first home video recorder as far back as the 1950’s.

The main business are TVs, followed by DVD-Players/Recorders, VHS-Recorders and HiFi-equipment. In 2005 about 80% of the company's profit was earned through premium class flatscreen TVs. It's product range primarily consists of television sets aimed at the luxury end of the market. It also produces a range of peripheral video and stereo products, including home cinema systems and digital recording functions. The Company offers individual product lines, as well as integrated systems that bring together video and audio components, both technically and aesthetically.

Its television set brands are offered across four segments:

- Loewe Reference, which includes the Spheros and Articos products

- Loewe Art, which offers the Xelos range of plasma and liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions

- Loewe Light, which includes the Mimo LCD and Concept products

- Loewe Classic, comprised of the Company's principal range, Articos CRT, Aconda, Mimo, Nemos, Aventos and Modus products.

Loewe also manufactures LCD television sets for Sharp Corporation, which owns a 29% stake in the Company.

Today the tradition of innovation continues with television and associated products such as DVD recorders and on board hard drive recorders (DR+). The Individual 32 Selection also comes with Digital Recording Plus, which besides recording and archiving television content, allows users to defer viewing at the touch of a button. All the user has to do is hold down the “time shift” function that will “pause” a show at a certain juncture for resumed viewing at a later time.

Loewe televisions have now netted over 140 international awards for design and performance. Their internal technology is similar to that of a computer, allowing them to digitally process pictures and sound with great accuracy and without any signal loss. This digital processing is a separate issue to receiving digital TV broadcasts. It determines picture performance regardless of whether the original picture is from a digital or analogue source. Loewe’s unique engineering delivers a noticeable difference in picture quality whether the screen is a Plasma or LCD panel.

The result of Loewe’s technical excellence is their deserved reputation for making the best televisions available. Picture quality regarded as almost photographic is combined with high fidelity sound and peerless industrial design. Loewe have perfected the television to such a degree that eye fatigue is a thing of the past, and today have gone beyond that again with DR + technology.
