Locopops
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Locopops is a gourmet popsicle store located at 2600 Hillsborough Road in Durham, North Carolina, at the corner of Hillsborough and Fifteenth Streets, blocks from Ninth Street in Old West Durham. They feature a constantly-changing menu that is divided into two broad categories: water-based popsicles and cream-based popsicles. Each is made in-house. When each particular size is available, a large costs $2.25, a medium costs $1.75, and a small costs $1.25 (tax included).
The menu changes each week to reflect seasonal fruits and other offerings. Additionally, each week Locopops offers different banana combinations, as well as a "Funky Flavor" of the week, which has been known to include Black Pepper Cream, Olive Oil and Cream, and Avocado.

[edit] History
Locopops opened up shop in June of 2005. The popsicles are created by the proprietor in the gourmet tradition of popsicles sold in Mexico and Mexican markets throughout America. In Spanish, they are known as "paletas," which translates to "little shovels."
[edit] Other Locations
Starting in Fall 2006, Locopops also began selling pops every Thursday at a stand on the Duke University Student Plaza, adjacent to the Bryan Center.
A small selection of Locopop flavors, usually four, are available at the Refectory Cafe in the Westbrook Building on the Duke University campus. There is also a selection available at the Duke Coffeehouse (Crowell Building next to Epworth Dorm) on East Campus.
There are plans in the works to open a second store in neighboring Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2007.
