Loch Garten Osprey Centre

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Loch Garten Osprey Centre is a nature reserve at Boat of Garten in the Abernethy Forest, Badenoch and Strathspey, in the Highland council area of Scotland, and in the care of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The centre is famous for its Ospreys. During the nesting season, there are video links to the nest.

There is also a Capercaillie lek.

In this Caledonian Scots pine forest site there are also Crested Tits, Scottish Crossbills and Red Squirrels.

The young of some of the Speyside Ospreys are now regular visitors to Galloway in South West Scotland. You can follow young Osprey in the area being raised and fed at a viewing room in the County Buildings in Wigtown where a camera on a nest in Galloway beams back some wonderful images. These birds have nested successfully now for several years. An additional Galloway attraction is the nearby whisky distillery at Bladnoch (not Badenoch)
