Local Government Information Unit

The Local Government Information Unit is an independent research and information organisation who represent the interests of local authorities by providing practical, independent advice, resources and training, their team of policy analysts are experts in their field, and analyse and interpret national policy to provide practical advice on the implications. They are a company limited by guarantee, and a registered charity (Reg. No. 1113495).

Now making the transition to a new identity as the Children's Services Network (CSN), The Education Network (TEN) was originally launched by the LGIU in 1997 to help develop, promote and disseminate the role and good practice of local authorities in the delivery of education. Since then, TEN have grown in size, membership and influence - establishing a strong reputation for quality, reliability and an innovative approach.

The Democratic Health Network (DHN)is a membership organisation within the LGIU who supports the role of authorities in local health provision and promotion; promote the democratic accountability of local health services; address the needs of local councillors and non-executive directors of health bodies; the DHN addresses the wider determinants of health, as well as the quality of health provision.
