• Local refers to a restricted part of the organism. Such as a local anesthesia.

In Programming:

• Locale, a term used in software development to refer to the user's location
• Localization, the process of customizing software for users in different locations

In Sociology:

• Localism, is the emphasis on local, small-scale, or exclusive cultural aspects and systems, as opposed to more larger, inclusive, (and perhaps unmanageable) systems.
