This is a category containing Local Government Areas in the area of Brisbane. As a group they have no special administrative status, but are grouped as a subcategory of Local Government Areas of Queensland for convenience. In 1925, 20 municipalities and shires were absorbed into Greater Brisbane as a single Local Government Area, in the last 30 years or so, Brisbane has expanded and the conurbation now stretches from Northern NSW to Caloundra.
