From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Living Wage Chicken is the mascot of the Living Wage Movement at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The "chicken" (a person in a chicken costume) appears at various United Campus Workers and Progressive Student Alliance rallies, hoping to garner support for higher wages for UT employees.
The "chicken" first appeared at UT-K labor rallies in 2002. Widely known as "Loretta," the chicken is a potent and well-known symbol of the ongoing campaign for economic justice on the UT-K campus.
