The pop and rock music scene in Liverpool, England has been active for decades, and been important in the development of a number of bands and artists who went on to national and international fame.

Of course, the most famous band to have come from Liverpool is The Beatles, who played many of their early gigs at the Cavern Club. In the 1960s, the city was home to the development of the Mersey sound style of pop music, popularised by artists including Gerry & the Pacemakers.

In the late 1970s/early 1980s, Echo & the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes and the Mighty Wah! emerged.

1990s The Boo Radleys, The la's, the Farm, Ooberman, Dr.Phibes and the house of wax equations, Mr Rays Wig World, Scorpio Rising, Sian and Slug

Recent bands from the scene include: The Zutons, The Coral, Ladytron, Hot Club De Paris, Dead 60s, Flamingo 50, Voo, Dirtblonde, Tramp Attack, KWK, 28 Costumes. Pop Levi, Snap Ant, Camille Davila, Little Flames, Candie Payne, The Stands, Tokyo Adventures.
