McGraw's 9th CD, Live Like You Were Dying debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 766,000 copies in its first week. The album has gone on to sell 3,751,602 copies and has been certified 4X Platinum by the RIAA. The album included number one hits "Live Like You Were Dying", "Back When", "Drugs or Jesus", "Do You Want Fries With That", and "My Old Friend". One of the most noted songs is "Live Like You Were Dying" itself, the story of a man with a deadly disease who finds he has little time to live (the music video for the song prominently featured McGraw's father, former baseball player Tug McGraw, who had recently died of brain cancer).
