  • Elliott Creek is a tributary of the West Fork, which is in turn a tributary of the Little Sioux. Elliott Creek becomes the Garretson Ditch below Bronson, Iowa, and meets the meandered (old) West Fork before the old streambed enters the Little Sioux near Castana, Iowa. The bulk of the Garretson Ditch's flow is, however, carried to the Missouri via the Monona-Harrison Ditch. Woodbury county historical records recount that much of the Missouri bottomland in the region of where Elliott, Big Whiskey, Little Whiskey, and Camp Creeks leave the Loess Hills was a huge indeterminate cattail swamp where discrete streambeds were not always obvious.
