Littlehaven railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Littlehaven Railway Station is on the Arun Valley Line between Ifield and Horsham.
[edit] History
The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway opened the first part of the line in 1848. However, the stations at Littlehaven and Ifield were not opened until 1907; Littlehaven opened as Rusper Road Halt and subsequently changed to Littlehaven Crossing Halt and then Littlehaven Halt all within the first year of service. Ifield was known as Lyons Crossing Halt. Littlehaven served the outskirts of the large town of Horsham.
The station was comletely rebuilt with minimal facilities after traffic decreased.
[edit] Level Crossing
The level crossing gates at Littlehaven were never replaced with modern barriers, and therefore the signal box is manned 24 hours a day.
[edit] Today
The station is served by Southern.
