Little London, Serbia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Little London (Serbian: Mali London) is a settlement in Serbia at the outskirts of Pančevo, close to the capital Belgrade. The Tamiš River runs through Little London. It has about 700 residents.
The town's inhabitants are mainly Roma (Gypsies) and they have lived there for at least 30 years. Many of the Roma of Little London make a living by recycling metal. Used cars are brought to the settlement and taken apart, to be resold as scrap or sheet metal. The settlement is without running water or electricity, and it presents a health risk for its inhabitants; resettlements of its inhabitants is being considered by the municipal authorities, but the funding and the target settlement are uncertain.
