Little Buenos Aires
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Little Buenos Aires is a section in Miami Beach, Florida, United States. Also known as North Beach, the area gets its name from the city of Buenos Aires after the influx of Argentine immigrants that moved to the area following the Argentine recession in the early 2000s. These immigrants are largely credited for rejuvenating the area, which during most of the 1990s was known as one of the worst and most crime-plagued areas of the island city. The Argentines opened up new shops, restaurants, and bars that have created one of the city's most lively districts.
It is estimated as many as 15,000 Argentines live in the neighborhood that stretches 15 city blocks, from 67th St. to 82nd St. at the northern most edge of Miami Beach, stradling Surfside along Collins Avenue. Less of a tourist attraction than South Beach, the area is widely popular among locals. It is home to many of the city's popular local hangouts, and features a vibrant nightlife that attracts a crowd looking for a more "chill" alternative to South Beach's vivid nightlife.
