Talk:List of toll roads

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This seems to be a mixture of roads, bridges and tunnels. Shouldn't the later two be in Toll bridge?

Also, I think that they should be defined as roads where a toll is charged from the users of the road. That is, Shadow Tolls, paid per user by an authrity to the operator of the tolls needs a separate entry.

Tunnels should be in toll tunnel, though I would put links to both of those lists in the list here (since they are both subsets of toll roads). --SPUI 21:39, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Also, this list needs to be connected with the whole issue of Road_pricing / congestion charging as the roads covered by congestion chaging in urban areas aren't quite toll roads in the conventional sense.--JBellis 19:11, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tunnels, bridges in this list?

I think that tunnels, bridges and highways all utilise "roads", so toll tunnels and toll bridges should go in this list, List of toll roads. Any objections? --Commander Keane 07:28, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think we should do that. It's pretty easy to distinguish a toll road from a "toll feature on an otherwise-free road". But I certainly have no object to a cross-reference to the (probably pre-existing) lists of toll tunnels and toll bridges.

[edit] Merge in List of turnpikes in the United States

It may be that very little work needs to be done for this merge, but the point is I don't see why both List of toll roads and List of turnpikes in the United States both need to exist. "List of toll roads" is a better list. And a turnpike and a toll road are, in this day and age, indistinguishable. —Rob (talk) 22:52, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

You're absolutely right, checked each entry and they were all double listed. Merged the articles. Craig R. Nielsen 06:12, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
