[edit] Article exposure
This is a nice resource being assembled here. I wonder what ideas to have more articles link here, currently there is just one main article coming in here, and most of the sub-articles off this one are pretty much single link as well. Could imagine all sorts of more heavily trafficed high-level articles could link here either through text links in the article body or a "See also" section. Stbalbach 21:26, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Reorganization
I have just completed a reorganization of this list. As part of that effort, I have removed the section of manuscripts with unknown dates, since the dates are known to the world, just not me. I have moved them here. As I discover the dates I will feed them back into the list. Dsmdgold 19:21, May 25, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Page Move
I have decided to expand this list to cover later and non-western decorated manuscripts, therefote I am moving it from List of Late Antique, Medieval, and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts to List of illuminated manuscripts, which also has the benefit of being a more elegant title. - I suppose that, given its current incomplete state, the page should be moved back to original title. The Slavic manuscripts were totally absent until I added the Ostromir Gospel and several others, but there are many more left out. The Armenian and Georgian entries (of which there are many dozens, dating from the 6th century onward) have been lacking until I added a few today. Currently, a reader may get impression that most illuminated MSS are kept in London, whereas the Matenadaran is said to have several thousand of them. The same applies to the Syriac, Coptic, and Muslim manuscripts, which are not listed at all. --Ghirla | talk 03:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, there is a good online resource for Armenian illuminations. Check http://armenianstudies.csufresno.edu/arts_of_armenia/miniatures.htm and
