Talk:List of harpsichordists

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This comment is not at all right--my music is and has been studied in quite a few college applications--I am in Who's Who in the Study of History and have composed for Many forms such as Omni/Imax films---I am sorry that in your corner of the World my music has not yet arrived. MY teachers would be amazed at your callous remarks.

For those interested, the comment (in the edit summary) that I made was "to mention Patrick Frye here gives a grossly inflated impression of his importance; to say he is "well known" for anything is just untrue". I made this comment while removing the following paragraph from the article:
One of the few composers of contemporary music for the harpsichord is Patrick Frye III, b. 1957. He is a graduate of both Connecticut College, New London, Conn. and Goldsmith's College of the University of London, U.K.. His music is both modern and Early Music inspired. He is well known for his free improvisation and great use of melody and fugue.
My feeling was (and still is) that to single out one composer in this way, and to give them a mini-biog does indeed give an inflated sense of that composer's importance. Even if we were talking about the one person that everybody thinks of when it comes to harpsichord music (such a person doesn't exist of course), having a biog of them here would be odd, as the article isn't about composers at all. Admittedly, it may have been a mistake not to put you in the list of harpsichordists when I removed the above paragraph, and I thank you for inserting yourself there. --Camembert
