took out cacophony.... a glam band? heh, not likely.

Aight listen. Im getting a little tired of re-adding ted Nugent everytime even though he most definitely is glam (Free For All, anyone?) and you guys dont seem to have a problem with Damn Yankees. Furhtermore...Whitesnake and Europe are two of the most glam bands ever, are you kidding me??? Yo, these are two lead singers who can hit higher notes than Aretha Franklin! Any band with a song with a refrain that contains, "I just wanna make love to you, feel your body heat," most definitely is glam. Seriously guys. Jigsaw Jimmy 21:21, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Stop calling Europe a glam metal band for God's sake !. How many times do I have to tell you this ?. They are a melodic hard rock bandAishah Bowron14:32 28 February 2006

I'm frustrated and fed up with the way you categorise Europe as a glam metal band. They don't look like that anymore and it is bloody insulting. four times I've already removed them from that list and you still put them in. I'm not asking you again, EUROPE ARE NOT GLAM METAL !Aishah Bowron 08:43 2 March 2006

What is "melodic hard rock" other than glam metal???? Seriously, the guy canhit higher notes than most glam metal singers, and he does constantly. Im not asking you again, EUROPE IS GLAM METAL ! Jigsaw Jimmy 19:14, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

Well they didn't start out that way in the first place, the only thing that is glam metal about them is their image and that is it. But their music got nothing in common with the genreAishah Bowron 100:24 3 March 2006

Look, this list has many bands that are debatably glam metal. Glam metal is a loosely defined genre, and quite often, if they look glam, they are glam. Their music has very much in common with the genre in my opinion. But the way i see it is, if i listen to them on SIRIUS Hair Nation, theyre probably glam. Please stop removing whitesnake and Europe. Just for you: i qualified the top. arguably. happy?Jigsaw Jimmy 16:51, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

If Ted Nugent's Glam Metal, I rule the world. He dressed blue collar and sounded more Arena Rock and AOR, which isn't Glam Metal. Also, it should be said that Heart was only Glam Metal during the '80's, I believe.

Europe and Whitesnake might've been glam for maybe one album a piece, so does that even count. Also, Melodic Hard Rock isn't Glam Metal, it's a fancy term for Hair Metal, which is maybe 3% glam in my opinion. Also, is Skid Row, Scorpions, and Dokken even Glam Metal. Skid Row on their 2nd album sounded more like a Groove Metal band, and Dokken and Scorpions are Classic Metal.

[edit] GN'R

Can you really call Guns N' Roses Glam metal? I have a hard time calling them that even during the Appetite for Destruction era. Despite having a similar image, I think GN'R was musically far from what is normally cited as 'Glam Metal.' Perhaps a wise solution to this would be to create a separate list for artists like GN'R, that while similar to & influenced by Glam Metal, are really in a field of their own. just like Europe they're glam. People just don't want to admit they like a glam band so they make excuses why they're not glam metal bands. Well they could be great bands and they could be different from other glam metal bands {such as gnr , europe , motley crue and whoever else} but in the end they're sitll glam.

GNR's not Glam Metal, they're Classic Metal.

GNR are a glam/hair/sleaze metal band. Rock band formed in 80s - check. Hair - check. Spinal Tap excesses - Check. Big overblown concerts - check. Power ballads - checks. Height of success killed by grunge in the early 90s - check.

[edit] Hunh?

Okay, someone said that if they get played on hair nation, they're probably glam metal. Black Sabbath, Metallica, AC/DC, Testament, and Megadeth are played on SIRIUS Hair Nation and aren't Glam Metal. Also, is Heart really a Glam Metal band? And some of these bands aren't glam, they're just Hair Metal.

hair metal is glam metal. But no those bands aren't hair or glam metal.

--Hummm...I thought to be glam you had to crossdress. A lot of Hair Bands didn't cross dress. Also, can someone explain on the list what the asterisks are for?

Listen making a distinction between glam and hair is STUPID because this was intially termed "List of hair metal bands" but it was changed to glam because it was apparently "offensive" to call it hair. Idk. So therefore anyone who is arguable hair or glam or watever should appear on this list.

[edit] Murderdolls

Why are they here?

[edit] Hinder

I added Hidner because if you listen to them, even though they get called Post-Grunge, they sound a lot like a lot of the 1990's Pop Metal bands, such as Firehouse.

[edit] Separate Glam and Hair Metal Bands

Okay, half of these bands are NOT Glam. Let's get something straight:

1. Glam is usually heavier than Hair Metal-example Twisted Sister, Ratt, W.A.S.P., Motley Crue

2. Glam cross-dress. Hair Metal bands, except a couple of them, don't cross-dress. For example, Tesla, Skid Row, etc., didn't cross-dress (Skid Row isn't even hair metal. They were for one album, then changed to Half-Thrash, like a Pantera or Machinehead are).

3. Anybody on here that had an album in the 1970's should be removed, Ted Nugent, Heart, Whitesnake, and the Scorpions. Also, since when are Scorpions glam? That's like calling Black Sabbath glam as that's what they sounded like from 1974-1978.

Removed Skid Row, Tesla, Scorpions, and Ted Nugent. THEY AREN'T GLAM! Skid Row-Groove Metal Tesla-Hair Metal Scorpions-Classic Netal (Absolutely not glam). Ted Nugent-Absolutely not glam

Uh, Hair Metal was a term made popular by MTV which referred to glam metal bands. It was considered a derogatory term by several of the bands. So if they are considered "Hair Metal" then they should be on this list. Cdscottie

[edit] The Cult?

How are The Cult Glam? They're Alternative Metal and Goth Metal.

[edit] HIM and Marilyn Manson?

How are they glam? Should we perhaps define glam?
