Talk:List of fictional left-handed characters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've only seen Chris Griffin on the family guy use his right hand.
Eric Cartman is almost always right-handed. Proof of this comes from the episode Fat Butt and Pancake Head, as Cartman uses his right hand to draw Ms. Lopez on his left hand.

[edit] Doom Space Marine
I'm deleteing the Space Marine from Doom from the list. Clearly from pictures in the Doom and Doom II articles, you can see him using the pump on a pump-action shotgun with his left hand. For those of you who've never used a pump-action shotgun before, you pull the trigger with your main hand, while your off-hand pumps to load the next shell. This would show that he's right-handed or at least shoots a shotgun right-handed. -GamblinMonkey 17:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Samus Aran?
In Metroid Fusion, when Samus accesses a computer terminal she uses her left hand because her right one is her weapon. This may mean that she is left handed, but so far this is all the proof I have. Should I add it?
- I think she's probably right-handed, since that's where her weapon is. It takes more control and precision to aim a gun than it does to access a computer terminal. Besides, most of us type on a keyboard with both hands. If one is occupied with something else / injured, it's not too much trouble (although it is admittedly slower if you're not used to it) to type with one hand, regardless of which it is. -GamblinMonkey 17:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Erm... delete?
Might be my fault, but why would it be interesting in any way what fictional people are lefthanded? It is not really important to most stories, i suppose. Nazgjunk - - Signing is for Whimps 21:09, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
- I put it on verify first to give those who worked on it some warning. I'm not against putting it up for deletion now that there's been over two weeks of warning that it has problems.--T. Anthony 08:05, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- I think it's because there is a certain stigma that comes with being left-handed. Although usually not verified by actual facts, left-handers are thought to be one or more of the following: more intelligent, off-the-wall or wacky, strange, more successful than right-handers, more creative, or more likely to be serial killers. Showing this list of characters shows how much this can affect even popular media. Looking at the characters on this list, you can see that many of them fit into one or multiple of the categories mentioned. Others might not fit into those groups, but show that left-handed characters are not portrayed as being these things 100% of the time. -GamblinMonkey 17:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- Feel free to argue for keeping it on the delete page. I put it up because I think it's not working out and probably can't work, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.--T. Anthony 22:20, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The deletion vote
To those who worked on it. If you feel I was unfair in putting this on AfD, or otherwise wish to defend it, go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of fictional left-handed characters to air your view.--T. Anthony 20:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Siegfried/Nightmare
Siegfried and Phantom Nightmare (SC3) have the same stance, and Phantom Nightmare's mutated right arm almost never actually touches the hilt of his/it's sword. I think that proves that both are left-handed.
[edit] Deletion vote
It looks like it barely survived. I'm disappointed it wasn't deleted. I wanted merger after a point, but I realized it was going to be no concensus or delete so came firmly for delete. Still enough people were interested to keep it so the duty now is to improve it I guess. I hope you all will do so as it really is questionable at present.--T. Anthony 09:10, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unleft-Handed!
Guys, About Neo, John McClane, and Malfoy - I checked on the list of famous left-handed people and it says that the actors: Keano Reeves, Bruce Willis and Jason Isaacs are all left-handed, so the thing is that the characters themselves are not left-handed on purposely, only the actors....
[edit] POV?
The most famous fictional character in the history of movies -- the character who symbolizes movies -- is left-handed: the Little Tramp, played by Charlie Chaplin
- Isn't this sort of POV? In certain cases you can determine the most famous, but I'm not sure if this is the case here. Also "the character who symbolizes the movies" seems to certainly be POV.--T. Anthony 06:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alusair Obarskyr
Alusair Obaskyr is described in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. So, this is wrong:
“A reasonable and realistic number of the Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures, including some unique characters: Alusair Obarskyr, Rhek, Ulmo Lightbringer, and Ghaele Eladrin. None of these characters have been featured outside of minis.”
because Alusair has been featured outside of miniatures. -- Trixt 01:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
