[edit] Itchy and scratchy

Is there any other use of Itchy and Scratchy? Tokerboy

[edit] theme song

Just to check: the theme song lyrics are presumably fair use? The Anome

I would hope so. Two Halves

I've seen some conflicting reports about what the lyrics are. Most of the ones I've seen include "They fight, they bite" variations. Anyone know what the definitive source on this is? -- Wapcaplet

NPR's "Fresh Air", December 29, 2004 interview with Matt Groening: "They fight and bite and fight and fight and bite...."[[1]]
There are all the variations to the Itchy and Scratchy Show theme at this site:[2]
Linking there is probably an option if there is a great concern about fair use. --Two Halves

[edit] more itchy & scratchy

In the first paragraph, this article states:

  • continually attacking and mutilating each other with all sorts of deadly weapons.

Is this true? I'd rather say that Itchy is clearly the agressor most of the times...maybe always. But now I'm not sure? I think it should be checked -- Piolinfax 02:54 19 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Scratchy occasionally attacks Itchy, but not usually...and only in self-defense :) Adam Bishop 02:59 19 Jul 2003 (UTC)
I think there was one, which we didn't see due to something like Homer tripping over the TV's power cord, where Scratchy finally got payback. When he plugged it back in again, we saw Krusty saying something like "WOW! THEY'RE NEVER GONNA LET US SHOW SOMETHING LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN!"

[edit] Kang and Kodos

Do Hugo and Kang & Kodos really count as fictional characters within The Simpsons? Since they are from Halloween episodes, they seem to be outside the Simpsons universe, if anywhere. Tregoweth 03:21, Jul 9, 2004 (UTC)

Are we sure that they're only in the Halloween episodes? I have a vague feeling that that's not true.
Kang and Kodos have appeared in clip shows, but those are also outside of normal series continuity. Tregoweth 07:24, Jul 11, 2004 (UTC)
Other characters (such as Hugo) also only appear in Halloween episodes. Should we really include these? -Branddobbe 02:27, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

I think halloween-only characters (and malibu stacy) have no place here, this is for fictional -characters- that the simpsons know about and consider to be fictional. until kang and kodos get their own show or malibu stacy gets her own cartoon, i'd get rid of them.

A character is not an entity with its own show. Plus, I think it's appropriate here, especially given the header of the Article. Out-of-continuity characters are still in The Simpsons universe, since they're on the show The Simpsons. Consider the Treehouse of Horror episodes to be stories that are fictional to the Simpsons' characters themselves, and therefore fictional fictional characters Fitch 20:03, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

They're brother and sister, but which is which? RickK 10:02, Mar 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Abortion for some, American flags for the others

shouldn't this quote: "Abortion for some, American flags for the others" be "Abortion for some, American flags for All!"?

  • I belive the actual quote is "Abortions for some, tiny American flags for others." Jack Cain 01:48, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Malibu Stacy

Doesn't Smithers have the largest collection of Malibu Stacy dolls in the world? RickK 10:02, Mar 10, 2005 (UTC)

Yes as revealed in Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy--220.238.88.213 02:51, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Billy

There's a kid called Billy. He's in documentaries with Troy McClure, like the one with D.N.A. and there's another one where Lisa becomes a vegetarian. Should he be placed in Fictional characters within The Simpsons or List of recurring characters from The Simpsons or not be placed anywhere? He's definitely been in at least two episodes. APclark 10:48, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

I think he is as real as Troy McClure is.--220.238.88.213 02:51, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Duffman, Menthol Moose, The Seven Duffs? What about Bumblebee Man then?

220.238.88.213 02:48, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

I think Bumblebeeman should count.--Greasysteve13 04:02, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Old Gil

How about poor Old Gil?? Put in a good word for your buddy Gil.. the wolves are at Old Gil's door... oh boy, your whole life you work and you slave and scrimp and you steal just enough to get a sweet, sweet lick of that shiny brass ring. Where's Gil's lick, doesn't Old Gil get a lick?

  • (Old Gil is the white male in his 50s who appears as a very poor salesman, always apparently down on his luck and desperate to make a sale. This Simpson's character is based on Jack Lemmon's character in the film 'Glengarry Glen Ross')

Dirk Diggler Jnr 12:07, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

You're looking at the wrong list. See [[List of recurring characters from The Simpsons]#Gil]]. Now, lets talk rust-proofing. The Coleco will rust up on you like that! Shut up, Gil, close the deal!. smurrayinchester(User), (Ho Ho Ho!) 18:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] God???

Why should God be listed as a fictional Simpsons character? He isn't A Simpsons character, and listing him as fictional may offend lots of Christians.--68.170.86.111 21:35, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Not just Christians as you'll see in this article: "God"--Greasysteve13 04:01, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
From the article, "Homer states that God was his "absolute favorite science-fiction character"." Therefore in the Simpsons universe, God is a fictional character. --JimmyTheWig 10:27, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
But God did appear on one episode, when Homer thought the end times were comming, and he went to heaven. Also, just Homer said he is a Science fiction Character. That doesn't make it necesarily true.--68.170.86.111 22:02, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
I thought Bart said, "Woah, God is so in-your-face!" to which homer replied, "Yeah he's my favourite fictional character too"--Greasysteve13 06:45, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] One-time Characters

Are one-time characters or fictional characters that already appear in other cartoons regularly really necessary for this article? -- The pathetic APclark Be nice not nasty 17:11, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

I think this should be fictional characters from within the Simpsons universe... Duffman, Malibou Stacey, etc. should be here... Big bird, Oscar, et al. should be removed... also, if I remember the episode correctly, those characters were not named, but were rather Simpsons universe rip-offs... maybe one entry on this list for the whole lot of them as a 'Sesame Street rip-off show' on The Simpsons... - Adolphus79 04:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] McGarnigle

McGonigle Often incorrecly referred to as "McGarnagle", DVD subtitles show the characters name to be McGonigle.

---

Are DVD subtitles canon now? You'd have to be deaf to not hear the "R" sound in his name. Tromboneguy0186 02:34, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why is Ozmodiar here?

--Greasysteve13 13:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Griffin and the South Park Kids

Should we put Peter and Stan, Kyle and Cartman in this? I mean they apperared in some episodes.(68.192.242.97 01:08, 5 December 2006 (UTC))
