Talk:List of famous sites

I'm not opposed to this page, but I think the title is a bit strange. "Sites", to me, suggests either building sites or archaeological sites. What exactly is the intended coverage? Deb 19:21 Apr 19, 2003 (UTC)

I added this category as a grouping at List of reference tables. I wanted to have a category to group together any places which were visitable, but not so large as to be impossible to anything but the most general directions. I thought having this category as its own page could also be useful in providing a means of providing information on locations to such sites. So, yes, a "site" could be a building or archaeological site, but it could also be a landmark (but not something like a mountain range). If you can think of a better name for this concept, feel free to suggest a rename.

(Note: I brought over the "spa towns" list from the other page, since I thought it may be related to specific places people would want to visit, unlike other city pages, even though if it is referring to the town as a whole, it would not be appropriate. Maybe this particular item would probably best be converted into "spas" if someone wanted such a list.) - Brettz9 00:24 Apr 21, 2003 (UTC)

Also, the sites wouldn't really need to be "famous", so maybe that could be changed also. Obviously, I don't think we want people listing their Joe cousin's house as a famous site, but we don't have to interpret "famous" too strictly. - Brettz9 00:26 Apr 21, 2003 (UTC)
