Talk:List of famous people in alternative medicine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the List of famous people in alternative medicine article.

This article will be modeled after List of Buddhists which is a required part of the WikiProject on Buddhism menu navigation system. -- John Gohde, aka Mr-Natural-Health 14:19, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Should Linus Pauling be included in this list? :) ᚣᚷᚷᛞᚱᚫᛋᛁᛚ 17:03, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

YES! Great idea. I will add, if you do not beat me too it. -- John Gohde, aka Mr-Natural-Health 17:06, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Why the sneaky removal of first Richard Dawkins, then James Randi, from the list, Mr-Natural-Health? Are you trying to make a point here? Mortene 09:02, 23 May 2004 (UTC)

There's a general concensus, perhaps reached in your absence, though I think it has been around longer than you, that wikiproject info and other "meta" data - if it belongs anywhere - belong on the talk page, not the article page. You may also want to bone up on the three revert rule, as that certainly has been introduced during your hiatus. Nunh-huh 00:57, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Well, you are close but you are still wrong! What is NOT permitted is either a link to a project page or the explicit mention of the existence of a wikiproject. What we have here is an article series box that refers to a series of articles. It merely classies the article as belonging to the CAM series of articles. Would you prefer that it says that this Article Index belongs to the CAM Index / List series of articles? That is why they are called article series boxes because they are quite common. And, the fact that they are so common should tell you that they are perfectly acceptable. John Gohde 16:51, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Actually, such content-free labels are uncommon, and unpopular, except with those who use them as a subtle way of instering their points of view. You are correct that they have not been banned yet. - Nunh-huh 23:59, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
And, I have a different point of view. People who express your point of view do not understand wikiprojects, infoboxes, article series boxes or even how menues work.
And, because other people are probably also watching the very top of this talk page clearly points out the connection to the Project on Buddahism. John Gohde 01:10, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
So your feeling is that our disagreement over marking territory by peeing on it is explainable by my ignorance? I see. I don't see much connection to Buddhism, either. - Nunh-huh 02:49, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Louis Pasteur

Really? Alternative medicine, in the modern sense of the term, rather than contemporary to his discoveries????? Gzuckier 18:40, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not alternative

Fire Star, why the removal of people such as Cheng Man-ch'ing from this list? TCM is classified as alternative medicine - see the alternative medicine article. Greenman 12:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
