Talk:List of dictators/Kwame Nkrumah
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- FWIW, I'm inclined to be sympathetic with Nkrumah myself. But it appears that he meets our criteria for the final couple years of his rule, i.e. from 1964. However, I am not a subject area expert, so will editors please explain their reasons for thinking Nkrumah should or should not be included? Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 18:53, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Nkrumah meets the criteria handsomely, and is also widely described as such. This is not to say that he was not a great African leader though, and he does retain great popularity around Africa as one of the early thinkers of "pan-Americanism". His popularity for his philosophy has no impact on whether or not he was a dictator. His article documents his regime as becoming "increasingly dictatorial" and he declared himself "president for life" etc etc etc jucifer 15:41, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
