Talk:List of delicacies

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ok this is ibt. no clue how this will be published, and if to whom...by accident? in any case, i demand compensation for any use of IP

This a a pretty questionable subject to my mind. Delicacies by whose definition? I can see mysterious omissions and errors, but I am loath to edit it because it requires much research that doesn't seem to have been done, which I'm not willing to do for this. Will someone out there/up there/behind the curtain/wherever please take a look at this, especially if you are disseminating it in other internet places like lockergnome? Puh-leaze??? This thing needs help or euthanasia.

I think there is plenty of information out there. See this search. --Alterego 21:00, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)
I know there's plenty of information. But if the person who started the article doesn't use it, and just throws out a list (I keep finding Wiki lists like this - it's as if some people do it as a pastime), then what should be done? It's somewhat like people abandoning pets. God knows there's enough misinformation on the internet. Oh, well. Thanks for caring. I have no room in my head for this poor animal, so it will have to wait for someone else to adopt it.

don't worry, it's only a matter of time before a doctor of delicatology comes along and straightens it out --Alterego 23:16, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chinese and insects

A new user edited this into the page:

"I would like to see something added here about crickets and invertebrates that Chinese love but which we nomrally don't eat in America. Thanks. Jim-50."

Some might like it, but I doubt the majority of Chinese actually prefer such things. Shawnc 21:33, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Indian Delicacies

There are a list of Indian delicacies. Each state in India has its own seperate and distinct lists of snacks, sweets and special dishes depending on the occasion and season. Naming a few would not do justice to all of them. A more comprehensive list would be appreciated. Surabhi.

[edit] Placenta

Some people see the human placenta as a delicacy. JedOs 09:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] French delicacies

I remove pâté and snails from the French list. These items may seem odd or fancy to most foreigners, but they are extremely commonplace in France and therefore not delicacies in the usual sense of being highly prized and rare locally.

[edit] US Delicacies

Should Philly Cheesesteak and Fenway Franks be added? They are at least well-known delicacies in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. - MSTCrow 05:16, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
