Talk:List of contract killers

[edit] real life hitman?
personnaly i think that the article is to much based on a few maffia gangsters during the 30's in america. there are countless paid assassins in other parts of the world who have done more professional hits. i mean look at this. hitmen in dark suits with tommy guns who massacred a few mob bosses against arab assassin who succesfully assassintated some of worlds powerfull men using silenced pistols and other 'professional' tools rather then the good 'ol tommy gun. there are yakuza hitman, russian, and arab who are not mentioned at all in the list. the only ones in my opinion worth mentioning are Carlos The Jackal and perhaps the Richard Kuklinski. ofcourse i have noticed that professional hitmen, if they actually perform there hits well, are never mentioned.
[edit] Merge/Split?
This is really two lists in one under a bad name. What is the criteria for inclusion on this list? I would propose a merge/split into List of assassins (as in Category:Assassins) and List of ficitional assassins (as in Category:Fictional assassins). Note contract killer versus assassin versus hitman is subtle. Besides the gender issue of "hitman," dictionary.com defines it as a "professional killer who uses a gun" [1] and Wiktionary states "usually paid by mafia" [2] which makes me wonder what all the Star Wars and Kill Bill characters are doing in here. That said, I added all the non-fictional members of the list to the existing Category:Contract killers but even that is begging for a merge. 8 redlinks remain and stubs should be created if they pass WP:V and WP:NOT. [edit] subdivide the list
This list is not comprhensive enough to merit subdivision of the real hitmen as yet but should it be expanded I would suggest a division be drawn between hitmen of different nations/techniques/crews/companies of killers. This is a complex but ultimately rewarding reorganisation. it should be noted that the topic of corporate hitmen has been utterly passed over in the discussion of assasins and hitmen.
