Talk:List of communists

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I sublisted communist leaders. I don't know them all. Please finish. Mikkalai 21:35, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

This is the list from Prominent marxists, which is about to be deleted.

[edit] Leaders of parties

I moved a few individuals who may have been leaders of the communist party in their nation, but never held any of the levers of state power, from the second category.

Otherwise to be consistent we'd have to move lots of Americans, e.g., Foster, Hall, Dennis, Ruthenberg, and I'm sure even more Brits, Canadians, etc., who were at some point the head of their national party in the other direction. That messes up a nice dichotomy between notable communists and those who actually held power, whether it was as General Secretary of the party, e.g., Stalin, or in some official capacity with the State, e.g., Castro. 24.126.41.116 01:07, 4 Feb 2005 (UTC) aka Italo Svevo

[edit] Sounds funny

How funny it sounds in the 21st century, but do consider why lists of communists were crafted in the past, similarly, indeed, to lists of non-communists in communist countries. 200.178.22.27 17:16, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Formatting issues

I deleted the intro and left one explanation sentence - since this is a list, not an article. The second section should be merged into the first one. It doesn't make sense to have one part based on alphabetization and another part based on a different topic.Spylab 19:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Spylab
