Talk:List of carsharing operators

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I tagged this with {{context}} and {{advertisement}} -- the latter because this doesn't seem encyclopedic and strikes me more as a Yellow Pages entry than anything else. I'm not at all familiar with carsharing and this might certainly be a legitimate topic for a list, but I think this issue needs to be addressed. Dylan 20:59, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Both tags are inappropriate for this article. The purpose of this list is to list every company in the carsharing industry. This is a replacement for Template:Car sharing, which was growing too large. Please see Lists in Wikipedia for en explanation on using lists in Wikipedia and Wikipedia:List guideline for guidelines on how lists should be used. I don't think think this list is any less notable than List of tea companies, List of hotel chains, List of Greek supermarkets, List of passenger airlines, List of banks in Hong Kong, List of fast-food restaurant chains, List of companies in Houston, List of bookstore chains, List of pharmacies, List of Singapore magazines, List of aerial lift manufacturers, List of department stores, List of chocolate manufacturers, List of animation studios, List of U.S. insurance companies, List of Four Seasons hotels, just to name a tiny sample from Category:Lists of companies by industry.
From Lists in Wikipedia: The usefulness of lists in Wikipedia is very clear as it often provides the starting point for readers to research a particular subject. For example, when researching Typesetting, the List of type designers and List of typefaces are excellent resources from which to begin exploring the subject. So there is no question in my mind that this list has a proper place on Wikipedia. As far as NPOV, all inclusions on the list readily identify themselves as members of the carsharing industry.
