[edit] Redundant Explanation?
Was my explanation redundant? (in original version), especially noting the Years served is as of the last anniversary of election to papacy. (Note: I created the article when not logged in)NoSeptember(UTC)
I'd have listed the current pope first, his immediate predecessor next, etc., i.e., the reverse of the order used here. Is there a reason for preferring this order? Michael Hardy 19:32, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I used the Chronilogical List of Popes chart as the template for this chart. I agree that current on top may be better. I was planning on adding older popes later. NoSeptember(UTC)
[edit] Statistics
This is my first new page, great to see all the changes people make that keep improving the article. I would like to add oldest ages / youngest ages / longest and shortest pontificates since 1500, but am not sure how to format. Please advise, or do it yourself if you know a good way to do it. Thanks. NoSeptember 18:51, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if it's a good way, but I once added similar information to List of members of the Swiss_Federal_Council#Statistics/trivia. Another version added more formatting for layout. As the list here is a nice table, the "Table Sort" bookmarklet on [1] might do. -- User:Docu
[edit] abdication
Are any popes who abdicated listed on this page? Michael Hardy 23:17, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, I see: it appears not. The list would need to get extended back to 1409. Michael Hardy 23:19, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
-
- And I believe it should be extended all the way back to Saint Peter. --85.74.174.27 14:26, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Limit
As a practical matter it seems the list can be extended continuously, more or less, through Pope Leo IX in 1049. The previous pope to have any birth date listed is Pope Silvester II 999-1003.--Mishalak 04:01, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
