This phrase is trademarked by Roger Ebert, so movies can't use it in ads unless he and his reviewing partner both give it a positive review. Movies given such reviews are far from uncommon and frequently quote it in their advertising, but I don't think this qualifies it as a cliche. I'll delete it in a few days if no one objects. I deleted it for you. If Two Thumbs Up!® is a registered service mark, then, in the way you describe it, Monster House would have been able to use the mark, while Superman Returns only split and thus would not be eligible (being one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, I was actually surprised by this). Perhaps some of the claims in the articel may be unverified, so I would like to verify them. I can think of mnay advertisments, for example, that do run for severy weeks saying they their sale must end 'this weekend'. A recent automobile ad in my area with prices "MARKED TOO LOW TO ADVERTISE!!" said that the dealership must clear out their inventory by Tuesday night, when the ad ran for two weeks in a row. Anything to get customers, I suppose... -- M (speak/spoken) 19:32, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
But it would still be original research to examine adverts and decide therefore that some things are a cliche. We need references that refer to these things as cliches. Mdwh 23:05, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Hmm. No luck on the "too low" thing with the word cliché in it. Google results for marked "too low to advertise" show absolutely nothing informational. Everything is "call or email for price." Ugh. -- M (speak/spoken) 00:20, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
