[edit] List of U.S. Highways
This is a list of U.S. Highways in Kentucky and when they arrived, and thus which Kentucky Route numbers were skipped. The Kentucky Route numbers were assigned by 1930. [1] has some information on old numbers.
- U.S. Highway 23: 1927 - present
- U.S. Highway 25: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 27: 1927 - present
- U.S. Highway 31: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 37: proposed 1935 - 1944
- The original Kentucky Route 37 is now US 421 between Frankfort and Ohio, but it wasn't renumbered because of US 37.
- U.S. Highway 41: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 42: 1930 - present
- U.S. Highway 43: proposed 1934 - 1952
- This presumably had no effect on Kentucky Route 43.
- U.S. Highway 45: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 51: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 52: 1998 - present
- This had no effect on Kentucky Route 52.
- U.S. Highway 60: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 62: 1930 - present
- U.S. Highway 68: 1926 - present
- U.S. Highway 79: 1944 - present
- The current Kentucky Route 79 was originally Kentucky Route 105, but I don't know where KY 79 was before 1944.
- U.S. Highway 119: 1934 - present
- U.S. Highway 123: 1930 - 1934
- U.S. Highway 127: 1958 - present
- Kentucky Route 127 is now Kentucky Route 239.

- U.S. Highway 150: 1934 - present
- U.S. Highway 168: 1926 - 1934
- U.S. Highway 227: 1928 - 1972
- U.S. Highway 231: 1952 - present
- Kentucky Route 231 became Kentucky Route 71. (What did KY 71 become when I-71 came?)
- U.S. Highway 241: 1926 - 1930
- U.S. Highway 421: 1950 - present
- U.S. Highway 431: 1954 - present
