Talk:List of Messianic Judaism important figures
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] What are the inclusion criteria?
For example all three of the people listed in the 1st century section have nothing to do with messianic judaism whatsoever. Nor is it clear how the figures from tanach and the new testament are choosen other than just generally important figures in those documents. Now, if there were people in these texts that the messianics considered important that weren't considered important by more standard forms of Judaism and Christianity that might be a cause for inclusion. Meanwhile, historically important figures in the movement's history like Martin Chernoff are not listed. If criteria aren't developed soon, I'm going to AfD the article. - Indeed, and guess what, the entire section just vanished. --Daniel575 | (talk) 22:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Standardization
Naming conventions also need to be standardized. Some names here are hebraicized (such as Dvorah) but others such as Rebekah are not (if it were Hebrew it would be Rivka). JoshuaZ 21:55, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- The Messianics are just trying to be cutesy and show everyone how "Jewish" they really are, oh my. Wikipedia goes out if its way to turn Hebrew names into English ones, and along comes this list and turns it the other way around, so who do you believe? IZAK 02:25, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I had thoughts in a similar fashion but I would have put it a bit more politely. Certainly when dealing with articles on Orthodox Judaism we use the English names and similarly for articles on Hinduism and other religions. It isn't obvious to me why that wouldn't apply here. However, at minimum this needs to be standardized to one or the other. JoshuaZ 17:59, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
