  • This should be a redlink free zone, even then it would still be awesome listcruft. Anybody suggesting that there are no vanity "players" here? Come on now... per WP:REDBLUE, WP:NOT, WP:LIST and others, this is not appropriate, WP:NOT for mere collection of internal links for a start (official policy). Deizio 16:51, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re-prod

This already failed a prod (listed by me, removed by User:Kappa) so the next step in the process is AfD. Re-prods are discouraged by WP:PROD... However, given the support for much worse lists than this recently, I don't think it would be deleted, despite the very valid policy concerns expressed by myself and User:Appropriate Username. • As User:Appropriate Username has just been blocked for a week, I've de-re-prodded this one for now. As above, AfD would be the next step... Deizio 13:43, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Potential

There is potential for a decent list - List of Arsenal F.C. players is a featured list. I'll establish some criteria and start removing some of those who do not meet it. Oldelpaso 18:19, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

I have improved the list in the style of the Arsenal one, but I'll need help in creating articles to kill the redlinks. So, feel free anyone... ArtVandelay13 18:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Karlheinz Riedle

Although Karlheinz didn't make 100 appearances (76 games, 15 goals), I personally think he had an impact comparable to some players in this list. Should I add him to the list or is he too small-time a figure in Liverpool's great history? ny156uk 19:20, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, it's tricky. I liked Riedle, but I think he suffered slightly from playing in quite an unsuccessful time for the club. So it's hard make a case for him having made a greater contribution than loads of other players, so the floodgates may open and the list would become way too big. I'm open to future additions, possibly even Riedle, but there may need to be some sort of voting process for players under the 100 game mark. ArtVandelay13 10:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Markus Babbel

What's the justification for Markus Babbel's inclusion in this list. He's 27 off the 100 appearance mark and I don't ever remember him being Captain. HornetMike 15:45, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Because he would have passed the total were it not for a serious illness, and in the games he did play, he made a huge impact. I know that sounds a bit POV, but it did pass the featured vote with him included. ArtVandelay13 16:03, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, but that justification could be used for a fair number of players down the years, if you substitute injury for illness. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that bothered, and I know it passed Featured with him in it, but it does jar when you're scanning the list. Cheers, HornetMike 09:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joe Louis?

His article states that he was signed by Liverpool and is still in the records. Of course, he never played a game or anything, but isn't he notable? Should he be mentioned somewhere? Mrbluesky 18:14, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

From the lead of the article: This is a list of notable footballers who have played for Liverpool. Generally, this means players that have played 100 or more first-class matches for the club. However, some players who have played fewer matches are also included; players who fell just short of the 100 total but made significant contributions to the club's history. Joe Louis made no significant contribution to the club's history, and thus is not included. Oldelpaso 18:21, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, someone added him to the list previously, and I removed him. The category is appropriate enough. ArtVandelay13 18:31, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
