Where are people getting the dates for the UNIT era stuff? I don't suppose anyone has looked at UNIT dating controversy? --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 16:13, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Some dating information on this page is taken from BBC Doctor Who website.

- That's my point - it's stuff from The Discontinuity Guide, which is often based on the speculation of Cornell, Day and Topping and not by any established dates. Those dates should not be taken at face value. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 17:56, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

- In fact, I would go so far as to say that if the sole source for any of these dates is those pages instead of the episodes themselves, they should be removed. For example, the date of 10,000 for The Ark in Space is very problematic, given that the Doctor says they were supposed to wake up 5,000 years after their sleep and overslept by several thousand years. Lycett later on says that they fell asleep "10,000" years ago. Assuming that the 51st century is when they were placed in suspended animation (which is not necessarily correct, either; Lance Parkin plonked for that date in A History of the Universe because that, at the time, was the last known era of recorded human activity, but that changed with The End of the World when the Doctor stated that 12,005 was the New Roman Empire), then the earliest date for The Ark in Space, once again assuming that the Doctor (and Lycett) is correct, is between 12,000 and 15,000. I could go into more detail breaking down many of the dates given, particularly where they are specified down to the month. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 18:04, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
