[edit] Neologism

The word lehendakari (literally, "firstlier") was a neologism. Before the establishment of Standard Basque in the 1970s, it was spelled lendakari.

Changing the spelling of a word does not make it a neologism. I changed this sentence. --zeno 18:23, 2 Jul 2004 (UTC)
OK, lendakari was a neologism. -- Error 00:28, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I've tried to make it all clearer by giving both versions of the charge. "Euzko" and "lendakari" were words made up by PNVists. What about "jaurlaritza"?--Erri4a 00:49, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I'm not sure about jarurlaritza but those neologisms made up by Sabino Arana or some enthusiastic followers are called "aranisms", some of them are strongly estabilished and have been accepted by Euskaltzaindia under the principle that speakers make the language, many others have been rejected and replaced even by Spanish loanwords in some cases. In general "aranism" is a despective term nowadays. --Sugaar 19:34, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
