[edit] Anima Dungeon One

A large underground facility near the Mass Driver Facility and Taura Melchior's house on Elru Continent in the south east. After working their way through the convoluted layout of the facility Fei, Elly and Billy were able to find the Anima Relic stored in the deepest level of the facility. The Relic aligned with Billy and turned his Gear Renmazou into the Omnigear El Renmazou. On the way out of the dungeon Billy was given an opportunity to test out his new Omnigear when the party was confronted by the Elements and their massive combiner-gear the G-Elements.

[edit] Anima Dungeon Two

A cavernous and dank temple-like dungeon from 10,000 years prior to the start of the game is located on a northern snow-covered island. After working their way through all the traps and ancient switches Fei, Elly and Rico were able to find the Anima Relic hidden away here. The Relic aligned with Rico and turned his Gear Stier into the Omnigear El Stier. On their way out of the dungeon they are confronted by Hammer who is looking to take both the Relic and Elly back to Krelian. Putting his new Omnigear to the test Rico used its power to fight and defeat his former friend turned enemy.

[edit] Aphel Aura

The former capital of Shevat.

[edit] Aveh

A desert kingdom located in the middle of Ignas. It is the largest nation on the planet in terms of overall land mass though it lacks far behind neighboring Kislev in terms of technological and military development and is light years behind Shevat and Solaris. It was founded 500 years ago by hero and machinist Roni Fatima, who became King Fatima I. Over 100 years ago the Solaris and the Ethos Society engineered a war between Aveh and its neighbor Kislev fearing that the two nations, strong allies up until then, would eventually develop the strength to oppose and possibly defeat them. Subtle manipulations kept the war going until the reason for it had faded out of public knowledge. Just when it looked like there would be peace between the nations the Ethos society, with help from Gebler, Solaris' special military force, staged a coup and had the entire royal family sans the heir to the throne Prince Bartolomew Fatima executed. The young prince was stolen away to safety by Lawrence Maison, the former butler of the Fatima family and Sigurd Harcourt, a family friend and ex-military officer. In the place of the royal family Solaris installed a puppet dictator named Shakhan who would continue the war with Kislev without end.

[edit] Aveh-Kislev Border

A tightly patrolled boundary in northern regions of Ignas continent. It marks the frontier where the desert kingdom of Aveh to the south meets Kislev Empire in the north. After repeated failures Gebler Commander Vanderkaum was reassigned to patrol this region once the new commander Ramsus took command of the military in Aveh. A turbulent battle between the pirate forces of exiled Aveh prince Bartholomew and Commander Vanderkaum took place along this border. Fei also participated in this assault but after witnessing the deaths of his comrades at the hands of Vanderkaum Id was awoken with him and he obliterated every remaining combatant on both sides. Not surprisingly Fei himself was the only survivor of the incident.

[edit] Aquvy

A large ocean located southwest of Aveh, consisting of the Aquvy Archipelago, "Ethos" Headquarters, Babel Tower, the Thames, and the sunken ruins of the ancient Zeboim civilization.

[edit] B

[edit] Babel Tower

A massive ruined tower located on the central island of the Aquvy archipelago. Stretching miles and miles into the sky high above the clouds it has existed since the dawn of human history. No one has been inside the tower or has even been able to get close to it for over 500 years because the Ethos Society has sealed it's entrance with a powerful barrier. The Ethos say it's a cursed place. In truth it is actually a part of the Eldridge, a massive colony vessel which crash landed on the planet 10,000 years ago. The aerial nation of Shevat was once anchored at the top of the tower, which was the only way to access it from the ground without the aid of a flight-capable vehicle. After the Shevat-Solaris War 500 years ago the flying nation detached from the top of the tower and became nomadic. It has wandered the skies ever since and occasionally returned to Babel Tower at certain points but never reintegrated with it. For some reason, a massive adjustable mirror existed on the tower and was used in conjunction with Ft. Jasper to destroy the Solaris Gate buried beneath the Ethos HQ. The destruction of the third and final gate caused Solaris to phase back into synch with the rest of the world again for the first time in 500 years. It is fairly obvious when seen from the inside that Babel Tower is not of the Xenogears world. In spite of its decrepit state, it is filled with equipment and technology thousands of years beyond anything the people living on the Xenogears planet could have created.

  • Babel Tower was based on the mythical Tower of Babel, an attempt by mankind to build a tower so high it reached the heavens and the Kingdom of God. The myth states that the tower's construction failed when God intervened and created language barriers between the workers who were building the tower. Nobody could understand each other any more, so the tower's construction was ultimately halted.

[edit] Bart's Lair

A secret base on the western edge of Ignas desert that was constructed by Aveh before the fall of the Fatima Dynasty. The base was rediscovered by the young exiled Price Bartholomew Fatima and his caretakers Lawernce Maison and Sigurd Harcourt. They discovered the royal family's sand cruiser Yggdrasil housed within the base and claimed it as the flagship of their new anti-Shakahn resistance faction. From this base they rallied a sizeable force of freedom fighters to their cause, enough to make daily life miserable for Shakahn but not enough to effect an actual change in the status quo. Bart and his sand pirates operated out of this base for many years until Gebler finally stepped in and tracked the Yggdrasil back to the base after a mission and sent a strike team in that night to eradicate the pirates. The team’s mission failed thanks to the help of Bart’s new allies Fei Fong Wong and Dr. Citan Uzuki, but with the secrecy of the base compromised Bart and his crew were forced to abandon it.

[edit] Billy's Orphanage

A small home on an island in the Aquvy archipelago close to the Ethos HQ. It was once the home of Billy Lee Black, his sister Primera and their parents. After their mother Racquel was murdered by -Wels- and Billy joined the Ethos Church because of it and the house was converted into an orphanage. Billy took in orphans from all over Aquvy and with the help of the Ethos Church he taught them and raised them as his own. Being a self-proclaimed orphan himself (after disowning his father of course), it only seemed natural for Billy to try and help out other kids from Aquvy whose lives were destroyed by the -Wels-.

[edit] Blackmoon Forest

A large forest on the Aveh-Kislev border that Fei fled to after Lahan was destroyed by his uncontrollable alter-ego Id. It was also where he met Elly for the first time, in this incarnation at least. In order to get from Lahan to Aveh one must first go through Black Moon Forest. The forest is inhabited by all kinds of monsters and many of them hate loud noises like gunshots. The most infamous of these monsters is the large T-Rex-like Rankar Dragon.

[edit] Bledavik

The capital city of the desert kingdom of Aveh on Ignas continent. The city was built around two lonely mountains that stretch up out of the Ignas desert. Atop the highest of the two peaks was Fatima Castle where the Fatima Dynasty ruled Aveh for over 500 years. After the royal family was overthrown by Shakhan and his "revolutionaries" Gebler, the military force from Solaris moved into the city and constructed a massive military base beneath the city which included a dock big enough to house several of their aerial battle cruisers. A large communal square was built in the middle of the town at the start of the road leading up to Fatima Castle, it was divided into two halves, north and south. Originally named Fatima Square it was renamed Shakhan Square after the revolution. It was changed back to Fatima Square after the rightful heir to the kingdom King Bartolomew Fatima was returned to the throne, then was renamed again Aveh Square after King Bartholomew declared that Aveh would become a democratic republic. Every year for over 200 years a tournament was held at Fatima Castle and battlers from all over Aveh and beyond would come to test their strength against one another. Water always flows up from a spring beneath Fatima Castle and runs down to the city by way of a series of long and convoluted waterways. Bledavik was founded by Roni Fatima after the Shevat-Solaris War ended. Roni became the first member of the Fatima Dynasty and King Fatima I.

[edit] C

[edit] Citan's House

A house at the top of the mountain range overlooking the frontier village of Lahan near the Aveh-Kislev border. Citan and Yui moved into this house following Fei being brought to Lahan by Wiseman. This was part of Citan's mission given to him by Emperor Cain to keep tabs on Fei and report back on where he went and what he did. It was a quaint little home with a workshop out in the backyard. After the incident at Lahan occurred and the village was destroyed Citan began journeying with Fei to keep a closer vigil on him and Yui moved back to Shevat with their daughter Midori and the displaced populace of Lahan.

[edit] D

[edit] Dazil

The second largest city in Aveh, which is not a grand achievement when comparing the minuscule Dazil to the massive capital of Bledavik. Dazil is located at the edge of the Ignas desert and is the centre of the Ethos Society's excavation activities in Aveh.

[edit] Duneman Isle

A monster-riddled desert island choked with quicksand due west of Ignas that appeared after Deus and the -Seraphs- began reverse-terraforming the Xenogears planet. It became a home of the Dunemen, desert-dwelling demi-humans akin to the Sand People of Star Wars fame. Another prominent resident of the island was a massive black dragon who hides behind a shifting sand waterfall.

[edit] E

[edit] Elru

Dominia's homeland. Destroyed by Id several years prior to Xenogears after attempting to revolt against Solaris.

[edit] Ethos Dig Site

On the surface, it appears to be a humble elevator shaft, but it leads down to the submerged ruins of the ancient Zeboim Civilization. Bishop Stone, a member of the Ethos Society, was digging in this region in order to find Kim Kasim's lab and, more importantly, his 'daughter', Emeralda Kasim, a young girl made entirely out of nanomachines. He intended to take her to Krelian in Solaris, who would harvest nanomachines from her and use them to further the M Project, the revival of Deus.

[edit] Ethos Gate

A barrier generator hidden beneath the Ethos HQ in Aquvy. It functioned in conjunction with three other gates, one in Ignas, one under the ocean at Sargasso point and a fourth in Etrenank, the capital of Solaris. The three external gates formed a triangle around Solaris and worked together to create a barrier that phased Solaris out of synch with the rest of the world rendering it invisible to the rest of the world. When all three external gates were destroyed Solaris phased back into synch with the world and allowed the fourth gate in Etrenank to be destroyed. The Ethos Gate was destroyed with the powerful energy cannon from Ft. Jasper was fired on Babel Tower, which used it’s massive mirror to redirect the beam onto the Ethos HQ.

[edit] Ethos Headquarters

A lavish church-like building on one of the islands in the Aquvy Archipelago in the southern portion of the Xenogears world. The Ethos Society operates out of this golden building. On the outside it appears to be a simple, although extravagantly decorated church where the followers of the Ethos religion live and work, but beneath the surface there lies a deeper darker secret. Hidden away underground and sealed off from everyone but only select members of the Ethos "church" is a massive underground complex operated by Solaris. Solaris used the Ethos Church to influence and control the planet's general population from the complex beneath the church. A massive computer database was stored in this facility which held data on just about every aspect of non-Solarian life on the planet. A similar database also existed in Etrenank as well. The first unauthorized people to see this facility and uncover its secrets were former Etone Billy Lee Black and his companions led by Fei Fong Wong. The secrets and lies uncovered beneath the Ethos HQ destroyed Billy's already shaken faith in everything he thought he knew and also helped to seal the fate of the false church. The Ethos HQ was obliterated by a laser blast from Ft. Jasper when Fei and his friends destroyed the third and final Solarian Gate, which was also hidden deep beneath the Ethos HQ.

[edit] Etrenank

The capital city of the Sacred Empire of Solaris. It is located in the very centre of the flying artificial nation and is suspended upside-down by artificial gravity systems. In Solaris the surface hangs overhead and the sky is beneath the player's feet. The centre piece of the capital is the massive Imperial Palace where Emperor Cain and Krelian reside. A large entertainment district known as Araboth Plaza is located just before the bridge leading to the palace. Etrenank resembles a futuristic version of our modern world; everything is automated, people drive hover cars and news and information is broadcast via holograms rather than video monitors or radio receivers. One of the city’s more “famous” residents is Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa Lockhart, though she only appears in the form of a poster on a young boy’s bedroom wall.

[edit] Etrenank Gate

The central unit of the four gate generators. It functioned in conjunction with three other gates, one in Ignas, one under the ocean at Sargasso point and a fourth located underneath the Ethos HQ. The three external gates formed a triangle around Solaris and worked together to create a barrier that phased Solaris out of synch with the rest of the world rendering it invisible to the rest of the world. When all three external gates were destroyed Solaris phased back into synch with the world. The Etrenank Gate was destroyed when Fei and his companions infiltrated Solaris after it was phased back into synch with the rest of the world. It was sabotaged by former Elements Jessiah "Jesse" Black and Hyuga Ricdeau aka Citan Uzuki.

[edit] F

[edit] Fatima Castle

Built on the highest of the two lonely mountains in the Ignas desert Fatima Castle is the centrepiece of Aveh's capital city Bledavik. Resembling a modernized Arabic castle Fatima Castle has stood for over 500 years after the nation of Aveh was founded by King Roni Fatima I. When Aveh Prime Minister Shakhan overthrew the Fatima Dynasty and userped control of Aveh he moved into Fatima Castle yet did not change the name of the palace like he did to everything else baring the namesake of the Fatima Dynasty across Aveh. When Gebler descended from Solaris and joined forced with Aveh they completely overhauled the interior of the castle and connected it to a massive underground military base that they built beneath Bledavik. Fatima Castle was also built upon a natural spring of fresh water that flows up from underground and down to the city section of Bledavik through a long series of water ways.

[edit] Ft. Jasper

Originally one of the numerous auto-targeting laser cannons used by the Eldridge before it crash landed on the Xenogears planet. Like Babel Tower, Mahanon, the Excalibur, Kadamoni and the Zohar, Ft. Jasper as it came to be known was just one of a number of pieces of wreckage that was scattered across the planet as the Eldridge descended. It was discovered (presumably) by Roni and Rene Fatima 500 years ago either before or during before the Shevat-Solaris War. This is where Roni's Omnigear Andvari was locked away with the promise that if Aveh, the nation he went on to found, was ever in danger his descendants could recover it from Ft. Jasper and use it to save Aveh. After Andvari was recovered the weapon/fort was ‘officially’ given the name "Fort Jasper" or "Ft. Jasper. Ft. Jasper was used in a coordinated effort that split Fei and Bart's parties up into two groups in order to destroy the final earth-bound Gate that was keeping Solaris phased out of synch with the rest of the world. The plan was to use the laser weapon on Ft. Jasper and bounce it off the massive mirror on Babel Tower in order to hit the Ethos HQ, which the third and final gate was buried under. After a few near-misses and some well-timed interference from all four Elements the laser and mirror were lined up perfectly and the Ethos HQ and the gate buried beneath it were obliterated. Ft. Jasper was originally located due north-west of Nisan and was hidden underground in the city's massive mausoleum. It was relocated to the surface and occupied a space in the forest west of Nisan after it was recovered and reactivated by Bart.

[edit] G

[edit] Goliath Factory

A gigantic factory north east of Nortune built into the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was here that the Kislev Empire's massive flying battle ship known as the Goliath was being constructed. The factory was a large maze of conveyor belts, elevators, crate stacks and hallways. The entire factory was built to Gear-sized scale so the only way to get around the facility practically was to venture by Gear. It's assumable that the factory was shut down after the Goliath was stolen by Fei, Elly, Citan, Rico and Hammer then later mistakenly shot down over Aquvy by Bart.

[edit] I

[edit] Ignas

The largest continent on the Xenogears world, Ignas consists of the nations of Nisan, Kislev and Aveh, as well as Lahan Village. Other natural features include the Blackmoon Forest to the east, the Ignas Desert to the west, a massive underground stalactite cavern, and a Kislev-controlled mountain range to the north.

[edit] Ignas Desert

A massive desert that covers roughly 70% of the northern continent of Ignas. The desert is the domain of the kingdom of Aveh and the home to cities like Dazil and the Aveh capital of Bledavik. It is impossible to cross the desert on foot.

[edit] Ignas Gate

A barrier generator hidden in a cave near Nisan on Ignas continent. It functioned in conjunction with three other gates, one in submerged beneath the ocean at Sargasso point, one beneath the Ethos HQ and a fourth in Etrenank, the capital of Solaris. The Ignas Gate was destroyed when Bart, Fei and their friends. Former Aveh dictator Shakhan had taken up position there in order to protect the gate on behalf of Solaris, but even after receiving "the Power" from Grahf it still wasn't enough to help him withstand Bart's new Omnigear Andvari. The Ignas Gate was the first of the gates to be destroyed by Fei and company.

[edit] Ignas Gate Cave

A small cavern located near Ft. Jasper, directly west of Nisan. The cave was sealed until Shakhan arrived to defend the Ignas Gate.

[edit] K

[edit] Kislev

A military empire in the northern half of Ignas, ruled by Kaiser Sigmund. Its capital is Nortune that is situated slightly south of a river. Kislev, unlike Aveh which is mostly desert, is abundant with vegetation suggesting a more temperate climate. In contrast to the traditional Middle Eastern/medieval European setting of its southern rival, Aveh, Kislev is an ultramodern, highly industrialized nation. The prologue suggests that the Kislev Empire's level of technology is due to the huge amount of ancient ruins found within its borders, and that the technology of the Ancients found in Kislev was the main factor behind the country's long-standing dominance of the century-long war between Kislev and Aveh, although the alliance between Aveh and the Gebler has tilted the balance in the favor of Aveh. Despite the grim, dystopian appearance of Kislev's capital, its people actually seem to be more the masters of their own destiny than those in Aveh, as the influence of Gebler and the "Ethos" are much less than in Aveh, and there is much less repression under Kaiser Sigmund, who is a rather kindly ruler compared to Aveh's dictator, Shakhan.

[edit] Krelian’s Lab

A massive laboratory facility located on the Ezekiel, the fishbowl shaped airship of the Gazel Ministry. Krelian spent his time criss-crossing between the Ezekiel and his laboratories in Etrenank. It was on the Ezekiel that Krelian created Kahran Ramsus, an artificial -Contact- and clone of Emperor Cain and various other artificial genetic nightmares collectively known as -Wels-. On Solaris, Krelian has another series of labs used for the same reasons as those on Ezekiel. At the end of the first disk, Fei and his allies find themselves shifted from the Soylent System to another part of Krelian's Lab, where Krelian is holding Elly. They manage to break out, but not easily. Near the end of the game Krelian has his entire lab transplanted from the Ezekiel to Merkava. Fei and his party has to pass through part of Krelian's ruined laboratory on their way to confront Deus in the game's final dungeon.

[edit] L

[edit] Lahan Village

A small hamlet located several kilometers in the eastern part of Aveh, beyond the Blackmoon Forest. Citan Uzuki lived on a hill to the north. It was home to Fei Fong Wong for several years, until his alternate form, Id, destroyed most of the village. The surviving village people immediately started rebuilding the ruins.

[edit] Lighthouse

Built on the large island due north of Aquvy where Solaris is hidden, this lonely lighthouse is actually an elevator that leads down to a section of the Zeboim ruins. Down there the remaining gaps in Emeralda's history are filled in and her nanomachines suddenly react and she instantaneously matures from a little girl to a young woman in her late teens or early 20's in appearance.

[edit] M

[edit] Mahanon

Also known as the main hull of the colony ship Eldridge. When the Eldridge was destroyed 9999 years ago in order to prevent Deus from reactivating and escaping many fragments of the ship fell into the atmosphere of the planet the ship was orbiting and crashed down on the surface. The main portion of the ship, which housed the bridge, Deus and Razael Central among other things, crashed into the ocean and sank to the bottom of the sea. For 9999 years it slumbered on the bottom of the ocean, entombing the inactive Deus while its peripherals (Miang, Cain, the Gazel, ect.) carried out its will and began to use the developing human population of the planet to facilitiate its rebirth. It came to be known as "Mahanon" or the "resting place of God" to human civilization; the only people who knew the truth were the ones acting in Deus' interests. Late in the game's second disc the Gazel Ministry uses the Gaetia Key and raises Mahanon from the ocean in order to retrieve Deus' rotting corpse and revive it. Their plan goes a little arwy thanks to the intervention of Krelian, Fei and his allies. Mahanon is not seen again after the events directly related to it have played out in the game and it does not appear on the world map at the end of the game when the player has free access to explore again.

[edit] Mass Driver Facility

A relic left over from the Zeboim era. It is located on Elru Continent just north of Taura Melchior's house and the first Anima Dungeon. The Mass Driver facility is used to fire a special warhead into the atmosphere which disperses a special nanomachine all over the planet that removes the genetic limiters placed on the world's population by the Gazel Ministry at the dawn of civilization. Unfortunately an unexpected side-effect occurs when the limiters are removed and some people begin mutating into -Wels- shortly afterward.

[edit] Merkava

The physical aspect of the integrated system known as Deus. It was completed by Krelian just prior to Deus' destruction. When fully deployed, Merkava morphs from a disklike installation to that of a mysterious monster. At the core of Merkava is, essentially, the nucleus of Deus, which is protected by four guardians and a maze of passages and platforms.

[edit] Mountain Cave

A cave in the mountains near the Aveh-Kislev border. It leads to a plateau in the mountains that overlooks an area of the desert where Vanderkaum's fleet was stationed. Fei also had to confront Elly and her squad of soldiers here in order to pass. Elly was driven into a psychotic fit when she used the battle enhancement drug -Drive- and wound up fighting a reluctant Fei and almost killing him with her Gear's AEROD weapons system.

[edit] Mountain Path

The path that leads up the mountain from Lahan to Dr. Uzuki's house. Recent rain water had washed part of the road out, so travellers between Lahan and the doc's house needed to be capable of long jumping a fair distance.

[edit] N

[edit] Nimrod

A region of the planet home to a group of religious humans who would later become known as the Nisan Cult. Its location is unknown, but it appears to have been destroyed after the Shevat-Solaris war that took place 500 years before the events in Xenogears.

[edit] Nisan

[edit] Nortune

A massive metropolis city and the capital of the Kislev Empire on Northern Ignas. The city, shaped like a large X, is divided into four separate boroughs or "Blocks." A and B Blocks are civilian areas where the regular population of Nortune lives. C Block is the "Battle Arena" block, this section of the city is run by the Imperial Battling Committee and is centred around the massive Battle Arena where Gears compete in one-on-one arena matches. D Block is a massive prison district, civilians live among prisoners in this block, however the prison population (many of whom are falsely imprisoned demi-humans) are kept in check by high explosive collars placed around their necks upon incarceration. A prisoner condemned to D Block can win their freedom by competing in and winning the annual Battling Championship that takes place in C Block. At the centre of the city is the massive Administrative Building which is actually an aerial battle cruiser built over 500 years ago by Roni Fatima. This battle cruiser is actually the main body of the massive super-gear Yggdrasil IV. In disc 2 after the Yggdrasil IV has been activated and later destroyed there is a massive hole in the middle of Nortune where the ship used to be docked. Nortune is home to many forms of industry that produce a large amount of steam; earning the people of Kislev a nickname in Aveh's capital of Bledavik, "Kislev Steamheads".

[edit] R

[edit] Reaper Ship

A derelict vessel roaming the waterways of the Aquvy archipelago. The ship was taken over and infested by -Wels-, or "Reapers" as they are known to the people of Aquvy and they used it as a base to terrorize the people of Aquvy from. One of Billy's missions from the Ethos HQ was to clear out the -Wels- from the ship, which he accomplishes with the help of Fei, Bart, Elly and the others.

[edit] S

[edit] Sargasso Gate

A barrier generator hidden in an undersea cave deep beneath Sargasso Point. It functioned in conjunction with three other gates, one in Ignas, one beneath the Ethos HQ and a fourth in Etrenank, the capital of Solaris. The Sargasso Gate was destroyed when Fei and his companions performed a daring operation which involved submerging the Yggdrasil beneath the ocean and piloting their gears underwater to reach the air pocket cave where Solaris built the gate. Forces from Solaris in the form of a brainwashed Emeralda Kasim and the Wel-Gear Rattan where there in order to mount a feigned defence of the gate but ultimately (and perhaps intentionally) failed.

[edit] Sargasso Point

An underwater trench located just east of Aquvy in the southern portion of the Xenogears world. Sargasso Point is only visited once during the game when Fei and his party try to destroy the second of the three Solaris Gates, which was built in a hidden air pocket cave at the end of the trench.

[edit] Shevat

Shevat: The City of Sinning Hermits.
Shevat: The City of Sinning Hermits.

A massive, hovering city-nation constructed from ancient technology, it originally sat atop the Babel Tower. Its people have long opposed Solaris' oppression of land-dwellers, but its leaders have made mistakes in the past that leave the people of Nisan mistrustful of them. Shevat is the homeland of Fei's father, Khan Wong, as well as Maria Balthasar and the three Sages. The nation possesses considerably advanced technology almost on par with Solaris, but its dwindling population and resources as well as a desire not to repeat the their past mistakes renders them a mostly neutral party in the war on Solaris, though they do lend Fei's party technological assistance during the game.

[edit] Solaris

The Sacred Empire of Solaris.
The Sacred Empire of Solaris.

Another skybound city-nation, however unlike free-floating Shevat, Solaris is anchored to the ground by a central pillar structure similar to Babel Tower. Solaris is the empire founded by Cain and the Gazel Ministry, the first humans to have been born from the original mother being of the Eldridge disaster. Its citizens are divided by a caste system - living in the lap of luxury are the 1st Class Citizens, usually purebred Solarians (recognizable by blonde hair and blue eyes), although it's not entirely unknown for a member of the Solarian military to ascend in Class through especially meritorious conduct. The 2nd- and 3rd-class citizens endure less favorable living conditions, and are usually assigned to menial labor.

Solaris has long sought control over the entire planet, though the powers behind the government (Krelian, Cain, the Gazel Ministry and Miang) all seek this to further their own ends. The only city of Solaris seen in the game is Etrenank, a truly gargantuan floating city in the sky that unfolds from a central pillar to a shape resembling a flower once the final Dimensional Gate separating it from the rest of the world is eliminated. The entire structure of Solaris is built around the Imperial Palace, the residence of Emperor Cain and Krelian, which itself is separated from the rest of Etrenank by a moat and a bridge walkway.

Solaris is the one location visited in the game that does not appear on the world map as it is hidded in a dimensional fold until visited for the first and only time. After the Solaris sequence is completed in the game it is obliterated by Id, Fei's powerful and destructive alternate personality. When the player gains access to the World Map after the completion of the story phase of Disc Two they can visit the large island in the middle of Aquvy where Solaris was suposedly stationed and find a large crater, the aftermath of its catastrophic destruction.

[edit] Soylent System

A huge Solaris plant that was first connected to Krelian's Lab before being moved to the ground. This is the facility where humans are transformed into Wels, and, sometimes, food.

[edit] Stalactite Cave

A large series of caverns beneath the Ignas Desert. Fei and Bart found themselves here after an incident involving an Aveh sand cruiser. The cavern is full of ancient repair gears and other hazards, and is also the home to Old Man Balthasar, grandfather of Maria. The cavern has an entrance near Bledavik, capital of Aveh.

[edit] T

[edit] Taura Melchior's House

A simple hovel located deep within a forest south of the Ignas Continent and east of Sargasso Point. Fei and Elly were stranded near the nanomachine scientist's house, where they were taken in and healed. It was one of the few areas not affected by the resurrection of Deus.

[edit] Thames

[edit] Z

[edit] Zeboim Ruins

The ruined remains of the ancient megalopolis city-nation known as Zeboim that used to exist in the Aquvy region 4000 years ago. After suffering a large-scale nuclear disaster the entire nation was sunk beneath the sea and forgotten. Some portions of Zeboim sunk into air pocket caves and were accessible from the surface. One of these places was the laboratory of nanoscientist Kim Kasim, and a section of the city accessible by using an elevator hidden away in a lighthouse. The city section underneath the Lighthouse is only accessible at the end of the game. Down there a side quest can be completed that reveals details of the last days of the Zeboim civilization, concludes Big Joe's wacky "storyline" and transforms Emeralda from a little girl into a young woman.

[edit] Zohar

The "Engine" of the Eldridge, it was actually an existence trapped by technology. It takes the form of a Wave, in other words, infinite energy. When Fei's first incarnation touched the Zohar engine, it was bound to him and he to it. This is why Fei's potential is infinite and the part of him that was bound to Zohar's infinite power was Id. In one of Fei's past lives, his mother was coincidentally an incarnation of Miang. She studied him in order to control his power, however, her efforts were in vain as Id was far too strong. Kahn sealed Fei's potential mentally, effectively creating in Fei split personalities. When one of Fei's personalities becomes weakened, Id takes control. Even Fei's gear will change along with him when Id takes over his body. Zohar was what enabled the people of the new planet to use Ether. It guided Fei to help it escape it's prison.
