This is a list of tallest towers in the world in general.
A tower is a tall man-made structure, always taller than it is wide, and usually much higher. Towers are generally built to take advantage of their height and can stand alone or as part of a larger structure. Towers as defined here are meant for regular but not living access by humans, and are self supporting (no guy wires). Thus apartment buildings (skyscrapers) and radio/tv masts do not qualify.
Chimneys, electricity pylons, and most statues allow human access for maintenance, but not as part of their normal operation. They are currently included in this list, but see the Talk:List of towers page for a discussion of whether they should be or not.
