  1. ^ a b c Krasnoyarsk Krai includes Evenk and Taymyr Autonomous Okrugs, but all three are considered to be federal subjects of Russia. The total area of the Krai (with autonomous okrugs included) is 2,339,700 km², which would put it in third place in the list. There will be a merger of these two autonomous okrugs into Krasnoyarsk Krai. This decision was approved by referendum on April 17, 2005, and the merger is to take place on January 1, 2007.
  2. ^ This is the full area for Irkutsk Oblast, including that of Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug. If that area was subtracted, then the figure would drop down to 745,762 square kilometers.
