• Ehime-Maru ( Japan): High school training vessel sunk by surfacing submarine USS Greeneville. Nine persons drowned.

• SIEV X ( Indonesia): Classified by Australia as Suspected Illegal Entry Vessel. 353 passengers drowned after sinking enroute between Bandar Lampung and Australian territory.
