- UC-97 (Germany): Sunk about 20 miles east of Highland Park, IL in Lake Michigan as a target ship by the USS Wilmette. US Navy records indicate the location of its sinking at 42 10'N, 87 20'W.

- G-102 (Germany): Sunk about 60 miles off the Virginia Capes as a target ship by aircraft as part of demonstrations by Billy Mitchell

- U-117 (Germany): Sunk off the coast of Virginia, near Cape Charles as a target ship by aircraft as part of demonstrations by Billy Mitchell
- Ostfriesland (Germany): Sunk as a target ship by aircraft as part of demonstrations by Billy Mitchell
