List of prisons in the United Kingdom lists all current and a number of historical prisons in the United Kingdom. See List of Prisons for prisons in other countries, and Her Majesty's Prison Service for further information on the prison service in England and Wales. Scotland (see Scottish Prison Service) and Northern Ireland have independent prison authorities.

Some convicts are detained in secure mental hospitals. These are run by the National Health Service rather than the prison service.
