- Despite having feelings for Kurt, who pursued her relentlessly, despite always being attracted to his bad boy charm, Natasha refused to give in decided to always played it hard to get. This just made Kurt even more determined to win her heart.
- Natasha really never got a chance to confess to Kurt how she had really felt about him. Natasha had always gave Kurt challenges to win her over, including the time when Natasha asked Kurt to choose to spend Christmas with her and her family or his own family. Natasha won, but she lost interest when she saw Kurt bonding with her father.
- However tragedy occurred when Natasha collapsed and died during Kurt's sister Lucy Benson’s eighteen birthday party. In a bid to make Kurt jealous, Natasha made the fatal mistake of agreeing to go to the party with Dermot, who wanted to give her a night she never forget.

[edit] The Benson family
- Kirk Benson - James Quinn, 1995-1998
- The father of Kurt, Lucy and Ollie Benson and husband of Juliette Benson. He owned his own computer business and left Hollyoaks with his wife, Juliette, after their children didn't need them anymore as Kurt moved out and Lucy lived with Carol, the house seemed empty without Ollie, whose death he took pretty hard.
- Juliette Benson - Martine Brown, 1995-1998
- The mother of Kurt, Lucy and Ollie Benson and wife of Kirk Benson. She left Hollyoaks with her husband, Kirk, after their children didn't need them anymore as Kurt moved out and Lucy lived with Carol; the house seemed empty without Ollie, whose death she took pretty hard.
- Kurt Benson - Jeremy Edwards, 1995-1999
- The oldest of the Benson children, Kurt was the soap's original bad boy, with his good looks, cheeky charm and trouble with the police.
- He was friends with Tony Hutchinson and Jambo Bolton and had his heart set on winning Natasha Anderson as his girlfriend. Tragedy struck before the two could really get together, and her death started a deadly feud with Rob Hawthorne.
- He went on to marry Ruth Osborne, but their marriage was not made in heaven. After many fights, Kurt found himself falling for the charms of Ruth's sexy step sister Kate Patrick. The two could hardly keep away from each other and were eventually caught out. Kurt and Ruth's marriage was over and he left the town alone.
- Two years later off screen Kurt was killed in a waterski accident, which his sister Lucy later learnt had been caused by Rob Hawthorne but it turned out to have been a random hit and run and Rob had told people he killed him to look hard.
- Lucy Benson - Kerrie Taylor, 1995-2000
- Lucy Benson is Kurt's younger sister and the middle child in the Benson family. She started off as being level headed, but this soon changed when she hooked up with Rob Hawthorne. Little did Lucy know that her relationship with Rob would tear her family apart, put her own life in jeopardy, and cause her and her friends so many years of terror.
- After being involved in the accident that caused the death of Dermot, Lucy soon wised up to Rob, and even shopped him to the police. It was Lucy and Kurt’s role in seeking revenge that caused Rob to be thrown off a car park roof by his drug dealers. Unbeknown to Lucy and Kurt, this marked the beginning of his vendetta against the Bensons – an obsession that would continue throughout his life. With Rob well and truly out of her life, though, Lucy returned to normal. She started a band with Carol Grove and Bazz FM and was happy that things seemed to be going her way.
- But Lucy's happiness in Hollyoaks was short lived. Her life was turned upside down when her younger brother Ollie was killed in a car crash. Lucy blamed herself for the accident, as she encouraged Kurt to chase after him. Lucy found it difficult to get over Ollie’s death, and ended up turning to Rob for support. He offered Lucy some tranquillisers to get her through difficult times. Once she was well and truly hooked on to them, Rob upped the dosage to heroin and so began a downward spiral that would eventually put Lucy in coma. As Lucy finally weaned herself off heroin, she attempted to piece her life back together.
- However, Rob Hawthorne was to cause further trouble when he trapped Lucy, Lewis Richardson, Ruth Osborn and Tony Huchinson in a watertank. They managed to free themselves, but afterwards Lucy lived in constant fear of Rob and what he may do next. She was finally freed from this worry, when Rob died as he tried to set fire to Finn’s bus on the eve of the new Millennium. Lucy was both excited and terrified at the prospect of a life without Rob, and began to realise that her fear of him had been holding her back.
- After much soul searching, Lucy decided that she wanted to travel the world and Tony offered to go with her. As Tony became increasingly preoccupied with researching tropical diseases, Lucy began to realise that he really did not want to leave Hollyoaks and told him he should stay in Chester. As Lucy and Tony bid farewell at the airport, Tony promised Lucy that he will wait for her, but Lucy left and never returned.
- Oliver 'Ollie' Benson - Paul Leyshon, 1995-1997
- Ollie was the youngest of Benson children. He loved to play practical jokes such as hiding the 'Unidentified Bleeping Object' in Kurt's room, where it proceeded to wake Kurt up at 6.59am every morning. Ollie worked as a roving journalist for the Riverbank Review, where he instigated such seminal reports as Babe of the Month and Cleavage of the Year.
- Ollie's best mate was Lee Stanley (who called himself Stan). Even after Ollie exposed Stan's Chips for Sex scandal, in which he insinuated that Stan gave girls extra chips in order to seduce them, Ollie still remained the best of friends with Stan.
- At one time Ollie made the mistake sleeping with Mandy Richardson, not discovering until later she was only fifteen. He had a remarkable vibrant spirit and refused to let anything get him down even when he had to face the prospect of facing a charge for statutory rape for sleeping with Mandy.
- However, Ollie's life was to be short lived after he became involved in a car accident after he tried to stop Stan in his car for driving too fast until Stan lost control of the car and a lorry reversed down the road where Stan had no time to brake. Ollie had suffered some serious injuries and was rushed to hospital with his family besides him. After a week, both Ollie and Stan ended up dying in hospital.
[edit] The Bolton family
- Janice Bolton - Stephanie Schonfeld, 1996
- James "Jambo" Bolton - Will Mellor, 1995-1998
- Jambo was an individualist, putting his unique stamp on anything that came his way, from his formula for salty vinegar and his devotion to Margaret the cow. Jambo had a penchant for climbing through windows, yet, as he argued, "Why walk round to the door when the window is right in front of you?".
- Jambo was good friends with Kurt Benson and Tony Huchinson and, whilst they were often confused by his odd behaviour, the three formed a strong bond, providing one another with support and, very often, humour needed to get through their rather tumultuous lives.
- Whilst Kurt was soon paired off with Ruth and Tony was hopelessly in love with Julie, Jambo was often left on the sidelines, unlucky in love and unable to act on the feelings he had for Dawn Cunningham. After countless missed opportunities as well as Jambo’s brief relationship with Carol Groves’s sister, Anita and his stepmother Lisa, Dawn and Jambo finally admitted their feelings for each other.
- The other woman in Jambo’s life was his Bond Bug Beryl, whom he loved and cherished almost as much as Dawn! Tragically, Jambo's romance with Dawn was short-lived, as she was diagnosed with leukaemia. She eventually lost her battle against the disease, leaving Jambo devastated over the loss of the girl he wanted more than anything else in the world.
- Jambo never got over the death of Dawn and, although he tried to persevere with his new landscaping business, '‘Dig It!’, he decided that they were too many memories of Dawn in Hollyoaks and he wanted to move on.
- However, Jambo certainly left the female population of Hollyoaks with a memory they would cherish, when he was the unwilling stripper at Jude’s opening night at the Parkers!
- The irrepressible Jambo finally bid farewell to Hollyoaks to begin a new life in Anglesey in 1998 but made one final visit to Hollyoaks to put flowers on Dawn’s grave and vowed never to return. We saw Jambo again when the gang went to a trip to Anglesey to visit him. As they left Jambo in Wales, it was clear that Hollyoaks would never be quite the same without him.
[edit] The Burton/Taylor family
- Elizabeth 'Liz' Burton (formerly Liz Taylor) - Andree Bernard), 2003-2006
- Liz is the archetypal overwrought mother of teenagers and spends her life trying to maintain the peace between her offspring, whose father committed suicide. She had a difficult relationship with stepdaughter Darlene, made worse when Darlene found out that her brother Ali had (accidentally) stabbed school bully Stephen "Macki" Mackintosh, but told everybody she suspected Liz's son Justin. Darlene changed her story in court, which contributed towards Justin being acquitted of killing Macki. Liz was grateful to Darlene for this. After Justin returned home, Liz chucked Richard out for having an affair with a colleague but said Darlene could stay with them. Liz has recently decided that her family must move away from Hollyoaks, to start afresh. However, most of her children are unwilling. Darlene has been kicked out, Sophie has said she doesn't want to leave and Justin hasn't said anything to Liz yet but Becca begged him to stay.
- Liz has now left Hollyoaks, but could not persuade Mel, Sophie or Justin to go with her.
- (Note: Her name is a reference to actress Elizabeth Taylor's marriages to actor Richard Burton.)
- Richard Taylor - Richard Calkin, 2003-2005
- Richard Taylor arrived in Hollyoaks with two of his four children Darleen and Ali, to set up home with Liz Burton and two of her children Justin and Sophie and to run the local Gym "Bodyboost". Liz and Richard's attempts to fuse the two families together was the focus of many Hollyoaks story arcs. Eventually he and Liz married, and some time later the families combined, just in time for them be ripped apart again.
- Richard eventually cheated on Liz (ironically, in a similar fashion to how he had cheated on his former wife with Liz.) After Justin's trial Liz threw Richard out, and he left the series.
- Sophie 'Soph' Burton - Connie Powney, 2003-2006
- Although identical twins, Mel and Sophie were polar opposites, Sophie was quiet and introverted and often got annoyed by her siblings' behaviour and lack of consideration for her needs. On her arrival, Mel was unhappy as she felt Sophie would get more attention than her and always felt like the shadow of Sophie.
- Despite Sophie always trying to make her relationship better with her twin, Mel often made it hard. Most of the time, Sophie would be in-between her mother Liz and Mel’s arguments as Sophie would be the peacemaker. Frequently, Sophie supported and helped her siblings Justin and Mel through their troubles, as Sophie never was involved in any nuisance. She also was supportive of her mother Liz's new partner Richard, despite Justin and Mel feeling uneasy at his arrival.
- She began dating student Joe Spencer, but it didn’t last for too long after she discover that Joe was going to dump her so Sophie dumped him instead. Soon brother Justin became involved in a murder trial (which he was innocent and later found not guilty of) and sister Mel’s drinking had got from bad to worse, but through these times Sophie gave her full support to the pair.
- In 2006, Sophie world was to turn upside down when both she and Mel were both drugged with GHB by Andy Holt. Mel was raped, although Sophie escaped this as Andy left her to his partner in the rapes Sam Owen, who he knew fancied Sophie but Sam couldn’t go through with it. Through her dilemma of being drugged, Sophie turned to Sam for support and soon started falling for him.
- She began a relationship with Sam, unknowing his part of the rapes. After Andy’s death, Sam had little choice but to confess his crime to her because he loved her and wanted to run away with her. Sophie tricked Sam into turning himself in, by saying she would stand by him, until his release. As soon as Sam had come clean to the police, Sophie had a her own confession for Sam when she told him she could never forgive him for letting Andy rape her sister Mel.
- The whole experience with Sam proved too much for Sophie as she struggled with the fact of being in love with a guy who drug rapped girls. She also found a unlikely friend in Russ Owen, Sam’s brother, as the pair both had something in common, being betrayed by Sam. Bit by bit, Sophie's feelings grew stronger for Russ.
- Gradually Sophie managed to put Sam behind her and began to work at newly opened salon Evissa. She was temporarily sacked by Evissa owner Sean Kenedy due to allegations made by Mercedes McQueen about an injured neck.
- However, Sophie got her job back when Russ pretended to be into Mecades and photographed her without her neck brace on, proving her allegations to be lies. But Russ had fallen for Mercades and Eventually Sophie told Russ how she felt about him but Russ told her he had to leave and Sophie found him a few minuets later making out with Mercades.
- Russ eventually admitted to Sophie that he had fallen for Mercades, during the time he was trying to get proof she was faking her injury. Russ explained that it was wrong for him to get involved with Sophie so soon after what happened with Sam.
- Things didn’t get any better for Sophie thereafter, as Sam escaped from prison, which again brought Russ and Sophie closer together. This time the pair ended up sleeping with one another and Russ admitted his true feelings for Sophie. The pair began to date one another, but tragedy was just around the corner for the pair.
- Sam had returned to the Village and was told by his sister Nicole Owen that his brother was dating Sophie. Angry Sam went to find Sophie and Russ. Nicole told them they would be at the dog and Sam made his way their.
- Meanwhile Sophie and her sister, Mel and Mel's friend O.B, were waited for Russ (who was sleeping with Mercades) when she got a call from Sam who rushed into the pub and started setting it alight. Russ found Nicole and she told him that Sam was going to the Dog looking for him and Sophie and was angry that they were dating.
- Sophie tried to escape but collapsed, however Russ arrived and pulled Sophie out. Despite Russ being convinced Sophie was going to make a full recovery, she died later in his arms after suffering from smoke inhalation, leaving her devastated brother Justin behind, whom also lost other Mel in the fire.
- Melanie 'Mel' Burton - Cassie Powney, 2003-2006
- Clever and introverted, Mel was a good observer of other people's habits. She arrived as a fresher and became friends with Robbie Flynn and Joe Spencer. Mel began to fall for Darren Osborne, when the pair had slept together, however Darren made it clear that it was just a one-night stand.
- Mel's family soon arrived in Hollyoaks, including her twin sister Sophie who was the opposite of Mel. Mel strongly resented her sister being in Hollyoaks as she feared that she would get more attention than her, especially as she was to join HCC as well. Things didn’t get any easier for Mel, as her mother Liz’s partner Richard moved in with the Burtons with his two children and Mel found it hard to live with her mother’s new partner.
- It got even worse for Mel as during her mother Liz and Richard’s wedding, Mel learnt the truth about her father’s death as she learned that he committed suicide. Mel’s younger brother Justin went off the rails, while Mel also couldn’t understand her father’s actions and turned to drink.
- Mel's behaviour became out of control as she began having drunken one night stands with several men before beginning a relationship with Sam (O.B) O'Brian. Despite the pair seeming compatible, Mel’s drinking often came in the way of their relationship, which led to Mel finishing of her relationship with OB.
- Soon however, Mel’s drunken one night stands were to cost her dearly as she was drug raped by Andy Holt. After reporting the incident to the police, Mel was left even more devastated after learning that Andy had disappeared. Mel continued on drinking and despite OB trying to help Mel get through her problems, Mel was still reeling from being raped by Andy.
- During a weekend getaway with O.B in Southport Mel spotted Andy at the Pleasureland fun fair, but when she tried to tell O.B he didn't believe her. Mel managed to track Andy down just in time after he had held Nicole, Russ and Sam Owen hostage, where shortly after Mel gave him a taste of his own medicine as she drugged Andy which led to him facing his own woeful death by being impaled on a spike.
- Despite Andy finally getting what he deserved, it wasn’t enough for Mel. Her drinking got in such a bad state that she had sex with a man whilst drunk (who mistook her for a prostitute). Mel's own mother threw her out of her home, leaving Mel to move in with O.B, O.B's best mate Max Cunningham and his young brother Tom as well as Max's girlfriend Clair Devine.
- However, that didn’t last either as Mel nearly poisoned young Tom Cunningham, after he accidentally drank some of her vodka. young brother Tom alcohol. Mel moved back home, but things got drastically bad as an argument between her and Sophie, over Mel’s drinking, led to Sophie falling down the stairs.
- By now, Mel was aware that help was needed and began counselling as she slowly began to get off the alcohol. She also built a rival with Claire after Mel spotted Claire having an affair behind her Max’s back with Sean Kennedy. Despite both Mel and O.B confronting Max with the truth, he failed to believe the pair and soon married Claire.
- Despite doing ever so well, Mel once again to turned to alcohol after failing to secure a job and was rejected by Warren Fox, after the pair had a one night stand. However, Mel managed to catch Claire once again cheating on Max, as she saw her sleeping with Warren on CCTV.
- After successfully recording the footage of the affair, Mel turned to OB with the evidence as the pair confronted a worried Claire in the Dog in the Pond. Although, Mel thought she had Claire trapped, it was set to be a night which was to seal Mel’s destiny.
- On the 8th September Mel was killed in an explosion caused by Sam Owen (who had been exposed as Andy's partner in the rapes). The target of the explosion was Mel's sister Sophie who survived the explosion but died later of smoke inhalation. Mel Burton was buried along side her sister on the 16th of September 2006, she was 21 years old.
- Darlene 'Lenie' Taylor - Sarah Lawrence 2003-2006
- The archetypal moody teenager had to move in with her father’s partner Liz and her children. Darlene found it difficult and did not get along with Liz or her son Justin. Darlene refused to compromise and tried often enough to split her father and Liz relationship up. No matter how hard Dralene tried, her plans backfired when her father and Liz wedded and Darlene had to live with this.
- Things got worse when Justin found out his dad had committed suicide rather than had a heart attack like his mother had told him. This made Justin turn to drugs and Darline was angry that Liz couldn't control him.
- However, Darlene faced the shock of her life on her 18th birthday when out of control Justin ended up pushing Darlene through a glass window. This left her with scars on her face as she found it difficult to deal with and left her angry at Justin. Darlene never attended school or faced the outside world.
- However with her father, Liz and her good friend Craig Dean supporting her, the pair both managed to arrange for Darlene to have plastic surgery for the scars on her face. after returning, Darlene had seen that Justin had changed after he was sent into a boot camp and forgave him.
- However things went from bad to worse for Darlene when both she and Ali were being bullied at school by racist thug Steven Mackintosh. It ended up in a tragedy when Ali stabbed Steven and later was ran over by a car resulting in both Ali and Steven dying.
- The blame for Steven’s death went on Justin and he faced a tough trial where Darlene’s testimony was to be crucial. Despite at first she blamed Justin for the death of her brother (as Macki use to be his friend, when he was on drugs), she eventually realised that Justin was innocent and decided to give evidence for him. She told the jury that Macki had bulled Ali so bad that it was possible that he could have reached breaking point and fought back.
- Through those difficult times, she also lost her father who moved out of the house after Liz discovered that he had been having an affair, but instead of joining her father, Darlene opted to stay with the Burton family. She found comfort in the arms of Craig but despite him falling for her, Darlene often manipulated him.
- After Liz deciding on moving to Colchester, Darlene moved in at the Dog after convincing Craig that Liz threw her out. She caused havoc in The Dog after she tried to seduce Craig's steep brother Darren Osborne but than told Craig it was Darren that was trying to seduce her.
- However, Darlene’s games soon backfired on her when she was tricked by Darren in sleeping with him as Craig walked in on them. A hurt Craig told Darlene to leave and she continued to play her games, this time with Liz as she accused Jack Osborne on trying to come on to her.
- However, after Liz got the full story from Jack she decided no longer to put up with Darlene’s behaviour as she wanted Darlene out of the house. Having burnt all her bridges, Darlene then decided the best thing was to do was move in with her mum and depart Hollyaoks for good.
- Alistair 'Ali' Taylor - Luti Fagbenle, 2003-2005
- Ultra sensitive and caring, Ali arrived as part of the Taylor family with his father Richard and sister Darlene, but was unsettled when he had to move with his father’s new partner Liz and with her children, Justin, Mel and Sophie.
- Immediately, Ali had a clash of personalities with Liz’s son Justin as the pair did not get on. However, things got worse when on Liz and Richards wedding day Justin found out that his father had not died due to a heart attack as he had been told but, had committed suicide because he was under stress at work. Finding out the truth about his dads death lead to Justin starting to smoking marijuana and Ali found it hard to be around him as the pair shared a bedroom.
- At school Justin started hanging out with a lad called Steven Mackintosh who sold the marijuana to Justin. The two boys became friends and together with Mackis gang they messed around all the time in class and caused there fellow class mates to suffer for their behaviour. During all this Ali was bullied by both Justin and Macki but as an intelligent and sensitive child, Ali's natural response to this was to ignore the bullying. Ali then made friends with new girl Nicole Owen.
- Back at home Ali tried to tell both Liz and Richard how he couldn't live with Justin, little action was taken and it got out of control when Justin pushed Ali’s sister Darlene through a window. This led to Darlene having a scar and Justin being sent to a boot camp. When Justin returned, Ali could not forgive him, despite Justin’s trying to tell Ali that he has changed for the better.
- Eventually, Ali began to believe Justin as the pair began to get along better. Ali started to develop feelings for Nicole, but he never managed to tell how he felt about her as she had fallen for Justin. Despite Nicole fancying his steep brother Ali's relationship with Justin became stronger.
- Meanwhile Ali and Justins friendship had not gone unnoticed by Macki, who had became angry that Justin didn't want to hang out with him and his gang or buy drugs of him anymore, so he started to bully Justin and Ali. Ali suffered racial abuse and was called names like Monkey boy.
- Despite confiding with his sister Darline, the pair still could not shake of Macki's bullying as it got from bad to worse, that both Ali and Justin would not even step outside their house and Justin bought a hunting knife for protection. The knife was found by Ali's dad Richard who put it in a safe place.
- Ali then reached breaking point as could not confide to his parents or teachers and decided to take matters in his own hands and it was Ali's unrequited crush on Nicole that eventually prove his undoing.
- After Nicole rebuked him for being a coward, Ali took the knife, that Richard had confiscated from Justin, from its hiding place and seek out Macki alone. Ali went looking for Macki and challenged him to a fight, Macki lead Ali to a deserted area and whilst Ali's back was turned picked up a brick.
- Meanwhile Justin and Darline found the knife missing and went looking for Ali. The two split up and Justin saw Ali, just as Macki was about to swing the brick. Justin quickly yelled at Ali to watch out and as Macki was about to hit him with a brick, Ali managed to turn around just in time and as an act of self defence Ali stabbed and killed Macki.
- Justin then ran up to Ali and told him to give him the knife and run home whilst he would deal with the knife, Scared by his actions Ali ran in fear as he ran straight out into the street and was hit by a car. Darline reached Ali just in time to see the accident happen and rode with him in the ambulance.
- Later in hospital both Ali and Macki died, and Justin hide the knife in the hospital toilets. When Justin went back for the knife a few days later he was arrested by the police who had already found the knife. The police accused Justin of murdering Macki and he was charged for it.
- Justin went to court and told everyone that Ali had stabbed Mack in self defence because of the bullying. With video evidence of Macki's gang tormenting Ali as well as Darline admitting that the bullying had got out of hand the Jury found Justin not guilty.
- (Note: Luti Fagbenle is now a film producer running a media production company called Luti Media. Ltd.)
[edit] The Cunningham/Richardson/Hutchinson family
- Gordon "Mr C" Cunningham - Bernard Latham, 1995-2004
- The father of Max, Dawn, Cindy, Jude Cunningham. Gordon was an irascible though kind-hearted man who often displayed an amazing tendency to infuriate those that loved him the most. Gordon's most memorable storylines included the Queen jubilee show, his fishing trip with Max and his opening of a garden with Charlie Dimmock.
- Gordon's first major storyline was providing comfort for his daughter Dawn when she struggled to fend off the advances of her mother’s new boyfriend, the creepy Terry. Mr C tried to help his first wife Angela overcome crippling debts, and tried to inject some discipline into the lives of his wayward children.
- Mr C soon built up a witty repartee with Tony Huchinson, when he became landlord of ‘Got it Taped’, and found himself in various scrapes in his desperate attempts to keep Max and Cindy on the straight and narrow.
- However, things got bad for Mr C as he lost his beloved daughter, Dawn and was saddened when Jude ran off a year later after getting herself in trouble with the police. Mr C had opened his own mini supermarket called ‘Drive and Buy’ and he rediscovered the joys of romance later in life, falling for the recently divorced Helen Cunningham.
- When he discovered that she was pregnant with his child, he did the honourable thing and offered to marry her. With Helen, came Mandy and Lewis Richardson, promoting the merging of the Cunninghams and Richardson families. Soon, Mr C became ‘Councillor of Chester’, when he had beaten tough competition from Tony and Matt Musgrove.
- With the Richardson family came considerable angst, culminating in Lewis’s death, yet Mr C had proved himself to be a rock to his wife and together they had a son called Tom. Mr C went on to have image problems, when he turned fifty, and than started a new look making him ten years younger with the help of Nick O Conner.
- Gordon’s world took a shock when son Max had told him that Helen was having an affair with Tony! Gordon still went ahead to give the award to Tony and once it was over, Gordon made clear he knew all about Tony's affair.
- Mr C was shattered even more, when Helen decided to leave him for Tony, but Gordon was convinced that Helen would return back to him. Struggling to cope without Helen, Gordon received comfort from Bombhead Burke and Gordon became a father figure to Bombhead. Eventually, Helen returned back to Gordon and with some match fixing from Mandy and Max, the pair was reunited.
- However, tragedy struck for Gordon when he had a heart scare whilst driving with Helen and Tom and Gordon's heart attack caused a serious car accident. Gordon died in hospital, while Helen also died, leaving young Tom an orphan. In Helen and Gordan's will he was suppose to live with Mandy but instead ended up living with Max.
- Meanwhile Bombhead took the news of Gordon's death badly and when his mum died he started to see Mr C's ghost trying to tell him to tell his friends about his mums death and that he needed help. After he got help his visions of Mr C's ghost stopped.

Helen had a tough time when she was married to Dennis Richardson, who had been abusive and had repeatedly raped her daughter Mandy and Helen was unaware of this until Mandy confessed to Lewis.
- Dennis was sent down to prison for seven years, and Helen found a new love interest in Gordon Cunningham. The pair slept together, and Helen was shocked to realise that she was pregnant and Gordon did the honourable thing by asking her to marry him. They soon got married and Helen gave birth to baby Tom, but more tragedy came for Helen when she found out her son Lewis died after he committed suicide. This had left Helen devastated and had found it hard to cope.

All seemed perfect in the best of all possible worlds, with Helen in charge of 'Steam Team' next door to Gordon's 'Drive'n'Buy', and the pair of them raising their new baby Tom at home.
- Then suddenly, for reasons best known to herself, Helen became restless: her shop changed its identity, and so did she, indulging in a ghastly affair with Tony (one of Mr C's best friends) that was eventually exposed when an earthquake destroyed the barge the lovesick pair had chosen as a bolt hole. But after much argument, Tony told Helen that he did not want to be with her no longer and thankfully Helen and Gordon were fully reconciled and back on fond terms.
- Helen began to gain the respect of daughter Mandy and stepson Max as well, but husband Gordon had a death scare when he had suffered a heart attack. Helen blamed herself but Max had supported her and Gordon had seemed to recover. A week later, lightning struck twice, when Gordon Helen and Tom were involved in a car accident which left Gordon dead after he suffered another heart attack.

The pair ended up kissing, but Dawn insisted that they should remain friends, Dawn then finds out that Terry has done a runner, leaving her mother in debts of over £55,000.

- One night, Will was left shocked and devastated when he caught Dale and Ben in bed together. An ashamed Ben tried to apologise, however Will insisted that it really never bothered him and made it clear to Ben that he is free to do anything he wanted.
- However, another twist emerged when Dale told Will she had feelings for him and the pair began to date, despite Ben’s warnings. Ben was furious at his father actions and accused Dale of using him, leading Will to throw Ben out of his own house. Eventually, will and Ben made up but Will was to face another shock when Dale had left after being sacked by the commissioner.
- However, another setback followed for Will when Ben got Will's assistant officer Emma Chambers pregnant! - Cindy believed that the social services wanted to put Holly with foster parents, and decided to run away to Spain and flee the country and Ben had helped her by driving her to the airport but on the accidentally ran Anna Green over after saying good bye to Cindy he came back to Village. Anna remembered Ben had driven the car that knocked her down after Ben almost ran her down for a second time and she remembered he was in the car the first time.

Ben soon turned his attentions to Mandy, even though he knew that his best friend Luke Morgan wanted her back. Despite his affair with Mandy, Ben proved to be a vital friend to Luke, helping him get over his rape ordeal.
- However, when Luke found out about Mandy and Ben, he felt devastated and betrayed, leaving the guilty pair to reconsider their future. Ben and Luke had not been on best of terms and Luke tried to muscle in on the running of Mandy's business, which he invested in. However, Ben was rather jealous of this, and told Mandy that she should just pay Luke back all of the money and tell Luke to leave the business alone.
- However, Ben and Luke made up, thanks to Adam Morgan's ‘Game 4 It video’, on which they saw themselves fighting, and realised how ridiculous their disagreement was. Ben soon grew tired out of Mandy’s impetuous behaviour and reverted to being a ‘lad about town’. Ben embarked on a love/hate relationship with Izzy Cornwell as the pair often winded each other up, but despite many attempts to sleep with Izzy, Ben failed.
- Ben’s character had turned into a sex mechanic and pulled anything with a pulse. Ben felt responsable as he took the wrong actions in attempts to save Jamie's life, which resulted in his death.

Just as Ben seemed to be getting his life back on track, he was not pleased when he discovered that his dad's police colleague, Dale Jackson, had moved in with the Davies household.
- Ben hated the idea of another womenin the house, knowing that his father, Will, fancied her and sister Abby thought Dale was like a mother figure. However, Ben soon succumbed to Dale’s charms and ended up in bed with her! After trying to avoid her charms, Ben again managed to sleep with her, only to be caught by his father.
- Feeling guilty, Ben was surprised at his father's reaction which was that he refused to get involved, although Ben had learnt his lessons when Dale made another final attempt which this time Ben avoided as she left Hollyoaks. Ben realised his true love of his life Izzy, but found it difficult to tell her as she left for a trip around the world.
- Instead Ben turned his attentions to Emma Chambers and after a one night stand, Ben still knew that Izzy is the one for him. When she returned Ben managed to do the unthinkable and asked her to marry him and she accepted. However, Izzy was unaware about Emma and that she was pregnant with Ben's child, a secret well kept by Ben away from her.
- During the night before the wedding Izzy found out about Emma's pregnancy but still decided to go ahead with the wedding- much to Ben's relief. But the marriage was not to last as Izzy found it hard to cope with the birth of Ben's child Arthur, and after knowing she was unable to have children, she decided to end their marriage by sleeping with Scott Anderson, Ben's enemy. Despite this Ben decided to forgive her, but Izzy was adamant that the marriage was over and left him.
- More struggle was to follow for Ben as he also lost his best friend Dan Hunter who died in a rally car explosion, which made his younger sister, Lisa, grew closer to Ben and he pair both shared a kiss, but Ben was adamant that the relationship was not to work because of the age gap. Lisa the started having an affair with Jake Dean, one Dan's other friends, who was dating Ben's friend Becca Hayton.
- Jake confessed the affair to Becca and told her she was the only woman he wanted. Jake turned to Ben for help to win Becca back and was even there when Jake proposed to Becca in the village. Meanwhile another fling was on the cards for Ben as he dated Lous Summers but still he could not fight his feelings for Lisa. Eventually Ben dumped Louise and began to date Lisa as the pair confirmed their relationship which shocked a few including The Hunter family.
- As the relationship went from strength to strength, both Ben and Lisa decided to move away from their friends and family and to move in together as the pair said farewell to Hollyoaks. The pair then went to live in the big city and crossed over into their own spin off show Hollyoaks:Let Loose.

She blindfolded him and made him take his clothes off, leaving him naked in the streets of Chester! From there on Izzy and Ben began to complete each other, but to a serious side things began to fall downhill for Izzy. Her parents marriage had split and she was being repeatedly harassed by Scott Andersson. She confided a lot in Tony, who supported her through difficult time and shortly the pair became an Chester's most unlikely couple. However, it was not to last when Tony’s ex fiancée Julie had returned and started working with Tony at Gnosh. Unexpectedly Izzy got engaged with Tony, but Izzy promised Tony that she will keep it a secret. But, Izzy was horrified after discovering that Tony was engaged to Julie! This lead on to Izzy dumping him and her harassment returned from Scott continued, when he started telling her how sorry he was and he wanted to be given another chance.
- Scott started pressuring her, until Ben Davies came to her rescue. From there on, Izzy began to form a strong bond with Ben as the pair tried to wind each other up, but soon Izzy started falling for Ben, however it was pride getting in her way of asking Ben out. Having underachieved with a 2:2 degree, Izzy decided to move on from Chester and go travelling with Chloe. After two months, Izzy returned back to Chester as she realised that she had to make a go of things with Ben, but was hurt when Ben did not pay much attention on her return. Having a minor accident outside Gnosh, Ben had rushed to Izzy's bedside at hospital and told her that he wanted to marry her. The pair finally got together as they awaited for their wedding as Izzy had introduced a sex ban on Ben until their wedding day. Scott was desperate for Izzy not to marry Ben, and the night before her wedding day, in a desperate attempt for her not to marry Ben, Scott confessed to Izzy that Ben slept with Emma Chambers and she is pregnant with his child. Shocked and in disbelief, Izzy confronted Ben on their wedding day and Ben admitted to her that he slept with Emma while Izzy was travelling.
- Not sure what to do, Izzy decide to give Ben another chance as the pair tied he knot. Having come back from her honeymoon, Izzy found it difficult than she thought with the attention Ben had given to Emma over their child Arthur. Convinced, that the only way to get Ben's attention was to fall pregnant. Izzy became pregnant but within two months she had lost their child. Suffering and depressed, Izzy could not cope with the depression and was further suffered when she was told by the doctor that she can not have children. Izzy felt that she could not give Ben what she wants and decided to do the unthinkable by sleeping with Scott Anderson- in a bid to end all ties with Ben. She told a devastated Ben about her actions leading him to throw her out.
- A few weeks later, both Scott and Ben called on Izzy’s doorstep, each pleading Izzy to give them another chance. Izzy told Scott she wanted nothing to do with him, while she told Ben that their marriage is over but she will always love him. [edit] The Finnigan family
- Eric 'Rico' Finnigan - Philip Bretherton, 1997
- Rory's father. It's from him that Finn got his urge to drift around and never settle down even though he inherited a mansion in Ireland from his grandmother on his mothers side of the family and the title Lorg Kilduggan. He did however left the mansion to the family butler to look after.
- Rory 'Finn' Finnigan - James Redmond, 1997-2002
- Rory Finnigan better known as Finn was lovable and cheeky. Finn arrived in Hollyoaks when Tony Hutchinson discovered a supposed vagrant sleeping in Jambo’s old shed, little odd did he realise that this philosophical, free spirited charmer would become one of his closest friends. Immediately, Tony went on a mission to have Finn evicted from the shed, beginning a comical rivalry that would continue throughout Finn’s time in the village.
- Finn’s father was in prison and his mother was dead, so he tended to drift from place to place, he had no idea how long he would remain in Hollyoaks, yet he planned to stick around and see what opportunities came his way. Whilst persevering in his war with Tony, Finn soon hooked up with Lewis Richardson and together they ran a market in the Yard, with Finn specialising in selling antiques.
- Along the way, Finn embarked on quite a few money making ventures, the most infamous being the time he decided to use his double decker bus as a tour bus around Chester, procuring the services of Carol Groves as the unsuspecting tour guide. Fin’s enigmatic status attracted considerable interest from women in Hollyoaks including Jude Cunningham, Kate Patrick, Carol and Geri Hudson, even more so when he revealed that he was, in fact, Lord Kildiggin and heir to a castle in Ireland!
- True to his nature, Finn declined the inheritance of his castle and although he retained his tittle, he preferred the life of an anonymous drifter. Carol and Finn embarked on a passionate and sometimes tumultuous relationship, climaxing in a marathon 48 hour session on Finn's bus, yet his free spirited nature and roving eye brought the relationship to a premature close.
- Finn and Lewis found another money spinning idea when they began to organise Nineties revival nights at a local club, giving them the idea of building their own night-club. After using Finn’s tittle to secure a bank loan, the pair finally got the go ahead to build The Loft.
- Problems in Finn’s relationship with Tony resurfaced when an unsuspecting Finn embarked on an affair with a woman called Victoria. Even Finn was shocked to discover that she was Tony’s mother! Unsurprisingly, Tony was actively against the union, but the two carried on regardless. Soon, Victoria became Victoria Finnigan and along with the marriage came Finn’s new role, as Tony’s stepfather!
- Finn and Victoria’s marriage lasted on six months, collapsing after Victoria discovered that Finn had been unfaithful. The end of the marriage marked the beginning of Finn’s life crisis, when he begun to question what it was he wanted from life.
- Whilst business at The Loft continued to thrive, Finn was becoming increasingly bored with life and, after learning that Lewis had got himself in debt and had to put the future of the club in jeopardy, he persuaded Tony to buy out Lewis. Finn returned the favour by buying into Tony’s new restaurant 'Gnosh' and they both became embroiled in a new set of adventures in Hollyoaks: Movin On.
- Finn’s life crisis continued, however, and Lewis's shocking death only underlined his belief that life was indeed to short. Whilst Finn returned to Hollyoaks, it was not long before he moved on. He left the running of The Loft to Tony, saying that he wanted to return to the life he used to have, the life of uncertainty. And so Finn boarded a barge with a mystery woman (Cameo by TV presenter Cat Deeley) and sailed off into the sunset.

A brief dalliance with Lewis Richardson followed, but this soon fizzled out and it seemed as if Geri was never going to meet the man of her dreams. It was on holiday with her mother, the irrepressible Jacqui, which Geri met and fell for the football ace, Jason Cunliffe.
- What followed was a tumultuous relationship, as Geri had to cope with being the trophy and, at times, celebrity girlfriend and then, after Jason finally relented, she became celebrity fiancée. This relationship reached a climax in the video, Hollyoaks: Indecent Behaviour, when Geri saw Jason’s true colours as he was unfaithful to her and then turned a blind eye when his team-mate, Scott attempted to force himself on her. Geri was devastated that her fairytale prince had been exposed to be such a rogue.
- After much thought, she decided to go through with the wedding anyway and extract, as much money as she could out of Jason, this was about revenge, not love. It was this plan that led Geri to leave, she married Jason and then, as they left for a new life in Spain, threw him out of their limousine, informing him that their marriage was over and that she was going with her mother. As she left for the airport, Geri drove through Hollyoaks Village for one last time and bid a tearful farewell.
- Jason Cunliffe - Alex Thorne, 2001
- Jason was a Footballer who was living the high life and was always got what he had wanted, until he met Geri Hudson. Geri instantly fell in love with Jason, or rather for his status, and the pair had became Chester’s very own ‘posh and becks’.
- Geri wanted to marry Jason, however Jason has other things on his mind as often he would have his regular affairs with his book publisher Alison. He also made a play at Geri’s rival Izzy Cornwell, but Izzy was having none of it and told Geri what had happened. Jason admitted what he had done but still the foolish Geri had forgiven him.
- Eventually though Geri did see Jason’s true colours when he had after a night party in his mansion, despite agent Dion telling Jason to recover from his injury. During the night, Jason’s team-mate Scott Anderson attempted to rape Geri and Jason failed to do anything about it. Realising that Jason treats her like a ‘trophy’, Geri decided to hit him where it hurts the most, in his pocket. Geri threatened Jason for him to marry her otherwise she would tell the press what he really gets up to. After getting married, Geri threw Jason out of the car, leaving Jason to realise that was going to take him for every penny he is worth after what he had put her through.
[edit] The Hunter/Mills family
- Sally Hunter - Katherine Dow Blyton, 2001-2005
- Mother of Ellie, Dan, Lee and Lisa: wife of Les. She was also a secondary school science teacher at Hollyoaks Comprehensive e. Les's drinking split him and Sally up for a while after he accidentally hit her while drunk. The two also split when Les wanted to support their selfish daughter Ellie after she destroyed Dan's life. The two were reunited after eldest son Dan died suddenly and Ellie finally scarpered. When all the children had moved out the two sold up to live in Cyprus.
- Les Hunter - John Graham Davies, 2001-2005
- The moody father of Ellie, Dan, Lee and Lisa: husband to Sally. He had a reliance on alcohol to sort his problems. He later admitted to being an alcoholic. He had two sides, the strict, overprotective father and the aloof, caring side of his personality usually reserved for when his children needed him the most. His drinking split him and Sally up for a while after he accidentally hit her while drunk. The two also split when Les wanted to support their selfish daughter Ellie after she destroyed Dan's life. The two were reunited after eldest son Dan died suddenly and Ellie finally scarpered. When all the children had moved out the two sold up to live in Cyprus.
- Ellie Mills (née Hunter) - Sarah Baxendale, 2002-2005
- The eldest Hunter child was a runaway living in Ibiza for two years without contacting her family before returning, not out of love but because she had run out of money. She was a man-eater and was responsible for the spread of an STD that Jamie Nash got the blame for. Her brother Dan and mother Sally resented her immensely, while her father Les treated her like a princess, which she often lived up to.
- Her evil streak came when she married serial killer Toby Mills. When her brother Dan saved her from being his next victim, she pretended not to remember what had happened (she had fallen from a roof) before letting her brother take the blame for not only Toby's murder but the murder of all Toby's victims. Her family turned against her including her dad. The atmosphere in the Hunter household got too much and Sally disowned her daughter before ordering her to leave. Ellie refused and when Dan was finally released after another of Toby's victims was discovered and her lies were exposed, she was more hated than ever. Dan refused to forgive her and after he died Sally made it clear that she was no longer a part of the family and told her she wished she had died instead of Dan. One day when the family were out celebrating Sally's birthday, Ellie packed her bags and slipped away with no one caring or even trying to find her.
- Toby Mills - Henry Luxemburg, 2001-2003
- Toby was never the most exciting character in Hollyoaks! He was a bit of a push over with girls and especially with Ellie Hunter. His relationship with her was always up and down and on and off and it tore him apart. He was so upset by how Ellie treated him that he started to murder blonde girls that looked similar to her! After many girls Ellie found out that it was him and tried to make him confess. He refused and made her go on a trip with him.
- In the late night special Hollyoaks Leap of Faith Ellie's brother Dan and sister Lisa soon found out and followed and it was almost too late when they got there to find Toby had forced Ellie onto a roof and was going to jump on to the next roof to get away from them, even if it meant them both dying. Dan managed to get to them and grabbed Toby and pushed him off the roof, as Toby fell to his death, Ellie also slipped and despite Dan trying to pull her back, Ellie fell too but luckily she survived and oby was revealed as the Hollyoaks killer!
- Dan Hunter - Andy McNair, 2001-2004
- Dan was the first Hunter to arrive in Hollyoaks, opening his own garage (later owning Dan's PitStop), followed by the rest of his family. Sensitive, yet extremely volatile and moody, Dan was extremely private about his life, which is why the first person he got involved with, nosey Izzy Cornwell, did not last very long. She accused him of being on drugs and spread the gossip around college. He wasn't, instead he suffered from diabetes.
- Dan's relationship with his family was strained at the best of times. He hated his selfish sister Ellie, didn't understand his mother, clashed regularly with his father, had little in common with his brother Lee but had a close, if overprotective, bond with little sister Lisa.
- Dan was shy yet good looking and fell for Debbie Dean the moment he saw her. The two were very much in love but were torn apart. Firstly he cheated on her after she had embarrassed him publicly by revealing she had taken his virginity, and when Dan was wrongly imprisoned for his sister Ellie's husband Toby Mills' killing spree. Dan was released after months in prison and was gutted to find Debbie had moved on. Dan and Debbie were not over each other and left it to the last minute to tell each other they loved each other, when moments later Dan's rally car exploded killing him and leaving Debbie devastated.
- (Note: Dan's first name was originally going to be Simon but Phil Redmond didn't want to name any characters Simon as he hated the name.)
- Lee Hunter - Alex Carter, 2001-2005
- The second youngest member of the family was also the comedy element of the show for a long time with his sidekick Bombhead. Lee's first appearance was in the back of a police car. He was always in trouble and failed his exams numerous times due to his workshy attitude. He enjoyed money making schemes that often went wrong and dodging any hard work if he could. He had a long running on-off relationship with Abby Davies, who he believed was his Juliet to his Romeo. They were always falling in and out of love with each other usually when Lee messed up by lying to her or on one occasion having a fling with her best friend Zara Morgan. Lee proposed to Abby before she left for University in Brighton. She accepted and after only a week apart Lee annoyed everyone by pining after her and being miserable and lovesick. They broke up after Lee visited her only to find her in bed with someone else. She broke off their engagement explaining how she had made a mistake accepting his proposal and that they were just not meant to be.
- Lee moved on to become a student at the college taking a course in Beauty Therapy (he wanted to do film studies but this was the only course he could get on with his grades and lack of work). He actually made a success of this and became College president but his ego grew too big and he alienated best friend Bombhead, while being set up for fraud by deputy Chris. He and Zara became close again after they were both kicked out of college. The two left the village together, with eco warrior, Zara, convincing shallow Lee to come with her to do voluntary work overseas.
- Lisa Hunter - Gemma Atkinson, 2001-2005
- The youngest member of the Hunter family, Lisa often bore the brunt of her families troubles. Shy and intelligent, Lisa was under constant supervision by her overprotective dad Les and older brothers Dan and Lee. She had a troubled life and was bullied at school by nasty Steph Dean who was jealous of how popular someone so nice was.
- Lisa kept a secret from everyone, until Brian Drake saw cuts on her arms and legs and assumed she was being abused and called a social worker. She admitted to self harming. She saw a counsellor for a while and became Brian's girlfriend but became a little to reliant on his help when her troubles at home became too much. They split up just before their exams started. When hunky new boy Cameron Clark arrived he took an instant shine to Lisa and the two started dating. Around this time she started receiving threatening text messages from a mysterious stalker. Her friends assumed it was Steph as she had always made her life hell and also wanted Cameron for herself.
- Lisa's stalker was revealed to be her jealous ex boyfriend Brian who had been terrorising her as he had failed all his exams and blamed her rather than himself. Cameron and Lisa lost their virginity to each other, but broke up and Lisa briefly dated older man Kristian Hargreaves.
- When her beloved big brother Dan died Lisa became more confident and was determined to enjoy life to the full. Her reckless behaviour included having an affair with one of Dan's friends Jake Dean and passing on an STD. The affair did not last. As Jake was totally in love with his girlfriend Becca Hayton, he ended the affair before confessing to his girlfriend. Lisa was gutted when Becca ended their friendship and Jake admitted that Becca was the only woman he loved and he had used Lisa. Lisa turned to Dan's other friend (actually his best friend) Ben Davies for comfort and riled his casual girlfriend Louise Summers who schemed to get her out of his life. She failed as Ben had fallen for Lisa and dumped Louise. Ben declared his love as Lisa was planning to go and stay with Ben's younger sister Abby in Brighton. The two decided to leave the village together to find a place of their own and get away from all their troubles. The two left Hollyoaks behind to appear in their own spin off show, Hollyoaks: Let Loose.

After telling Adam to get out numerous times, Mandy then drove off fast. Eventually Mandy stopped the car and undid Adam's seat belt but Adam still refused to get out of the car as the pair continued to argue. Luke told Beth that he can stay in Chester, but Beth insists that she can cope. Beth enlisted the help of journalist Alyson to help her incriminate Scott for her rape.
- After going to the press with her story, Beth had no choice but to break the news to her parents. It was the last thing Andy and Sue need, but they said they will stand by Beth. Beth’s case finally gets to court and after a tense day, Scott was found not guilty of rape after the judge learnt that Beth had coaching for her trial. - Sol Patrick - Paul Danan, 1997-2001
- Sol arrived in Hollyoaks with his mum Jill, and sisters Kate and Gina. Jill married Jack Osborne and the family moved into the pub, despite the disgust of Jack's snobby children Ruth and Darren.

- Ruth's bitchiness toward's her family riled Kate, and as revenge she taught her a lesson she wouldn't forget by seducing and having an affair with her husband Kurt Benson, effectively destroying their marriage.
- Kate earned a reputation in the village as the wicked step sister, but she couldn't have cared less as she had serious family issues to contend with. Firstly her mother admitted that Gina and Sol were not her biological children but had brought them up as her own when their real mother died. The biggest bombshell for Kate was that she had a long lost twin brother, Joe Johnson who she had never known. When Joe arrived in the village Kate rejected him but soon warmed to him. Unfortunately there was an attraction between them which they could not shake and they shared a kiss. Ruth and Carol Groves spread rumours they were having an incestuous affair. Kate exacted revenge by stealing Carol's diary and photocopying pages and sticking them in the phone box for everyone to see. She then gave Ruth laxatives before her house warming party then hid all the toilet paper, then let all her friends and family in and left them to it.
- Joe's feelings for Kate grew stronger by the day, and realising that she couldn't cope with being so close to him anymore, Kate said a tearful goodbye to Jill, Gina Sol and Jack before breaking the news to Joe that she was leaving.

- Gina Patrick - Dannielle Brent, 1997-2001

- She was also very intelligent and did well at college. She went up against her friend Emily Taylor for the editor of the college magazine, but she lost due to step sister Ruth Osborne's hostility towards her family. She even helped sister Kate exact her revenge on Ruth by standing by and watching her drink a drink spiked with laxatives.
- Gina never had a serious boyfriend despite a willing admirer in Sol's friend Paul Millington. Although he was sweet and obviously adored her, Gina let him down gently. Her sexuality became a big issue, especially when she eventually came out as a lesbian with Emily as her girlfriend.
- Following Jill's death Gina and Emily's relationship went downhill fast. Emily was caught cheating on her, and an upset Gina dumped her and moved back in with stepdad Jack Osborne. After struggling at college, Gina quit and decided to do volunteer work overseas at an orphanage and make her mum proud.

She also proved to be work shy and, along with cousin Darren, a trouble maker. She made no friends during her time in the village as she was extremely bitchy, and was always trying to steal someone else's boyfriend. He love life was also unpredictable. She shared a dalliance with cousin Darren but rejected his later advances until he got with Debbie Dean. Her jealousy led to a ketchup fight between the girls in the pub before Debbie dumped Darren. By this time Natalie did not want him, and seduced Craig Dean and lost her virginity to him. Her treatment of Craig was mean, and she was taught a lesson by Craig's sisters Debbie and Steph who had both had an intense dislike of Natalie since she arrived. She was horrified when her little sister Rachel arrived and vowed to get rid of her as soon as possible. After weeks of fighting and squabbling, the final straw came when Jack found out about her failing her exams due to the lack of work. Despite using her charms, Jack told Rachel and Natalie that they were being sent home. Rachel was delighted and stroppy Natalie flounced off back to Scotland.
- Rachel Osborne - Lucy Evans, 2004
[edit] The Owen family
- Carrie Owen - Jaq Croft, 2004-2006
- Warm and caring, Carrie feels deeply for her children and will go to great lengths to protect them even though her interfering can earn her little gratitude at times. Carrie is intelligent and will usually act as though she is naive or unaware of what is going on in her children's lives, whilst she is really picking up more than she lets on. She only becomes involved when she feels it is absolutely necessary and tends to let her views go unnoticed much of the time. Carrie had split up with Rob for a long period of time because of different views about whether Sam had set the house on fire. When she found out about her son Sam date-raping girls, she refused to see his side of the story, and wanted him in prison. However, Carrie was devastated when Sam told her he didn't want her to visit him in prison, and that if she did, he would deny her visitation rights. Carrie throw herself into the household chores and organised Sam's funeral. She was angry when Russ and Nicole refused to attend. Carrie decided that the family would leave Hollyoaks.
- Rob Owen - David Prosho, 2005-2006
- Carrie's estranged husband. He recently returned after finding out about Russ's cancer. Originally ostracized from the family because he refused to believe Sam's innocence when he was imprisoned, Rob returned after Russ warned him that he could be at risk from cancer, and after Nicole begged him to stay. Rob's return almost split the family again as Sam refused to accept him at first. He was forced to change his mind after Rob rescued him on a climbing trip when Sam was unable to scale the rock face on his own. He tried to help Sam to run away after it was revealed that Sam was a drug-rapist however this attempt failed and it caused a bit of tension between Rob and Carrie.
- Sam Owen - Louis Tamone, 2004-2006
- Not the most empathetic person, Sam is suspicious and sees persecution all around him where there is none. Sam was introduced into Hollyoaks after he served a sentence for a crime he didn't commit. He felt let down by Rob for not believing in him and tried to lead a clean-cut lifestyle because he felt that he had something to prove. Despite being a bit self-centred, Sam was a major help to Russ in getting over his cancer. He almost split the family up by threatening to walk out when his father returned. He eventually forgave his father after Rob saved his life during a rock climbing accident on Russ's Birthday and realised that his father still cared for him and felt guilty for not believing Sam. Sam is a daredevil and was part of action adventure group at college where he meet his old friend Andy Holt.
- Sam decided to study Law at HCC but this didn't last long due to his taking part in drug rape, after being tempted by his friend, Andy Holt who revealed that he had rapped Russ's girl friend Dannii Carbone by using GHB (but told him he didn't know she was Russ's girlfriend until after). Andy convinced Sam that the drug was a short cut to sex from girls who were gagging for it. Although he was wracked with guilt, he still committed the rapes. Sam was disgusted with Andy when he found out he raped and drugged the twins Sophie and Mel Burton. Andy had Mel and gave Sophie to Sam as a present, although Sam liked Sophiie he couldn't go through with it. This forced Sam to stop, despite pressure from Andy. This resulted in a conflict on a cliff between the Owen brothers and Andy with Andy falling off the cliff down the quarry into the lake (presumably drowning). However Andy returned to continue his assault on the Owens. When Nicole was abducted by Andy, Andy lured Russ and Sam to an abandoned warehouse. When they got there Andy beat them with a metal pole and told Nicole and Russ about Sam's involvement in the rapes. They were both shocked and disgusted.
- After confessing to his parents, he confessed his involvement in the drug rapes to Sophie, who tricked him into turning himself in. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison and told his parents not to visit him.
- 4 months later he began writing to Nicole and sending her visiting orders, begging for forgiveness from his sister. Nicole went to visit Sam and told him how much of a mess her life was because of him and refused to forgive him. This led to Sam being attacked in prison and hospitalised. During his time in hospital he managed to escape by holding Nicole hostage and went on the run. He later returned deranged and determined to get revenge on Sophie for tricking him into confessing all to the police. While forcing Nicole to tell him where Sophie was, he learned that she was now Russ's girlfriend and over Sam. This tipped Sam over the edge and he headed to the Dog and Pond where he coated the pub in petrol before storming in to kill Sophie. After a collision with Calvin Valentine he dropped his lighter and the crowded pub went up in flames. Sam (aged 20) died in the fire he started at the pub along with Sophie and Melanie Burton (aged 21), Joe Spencer (aged 22) and Olivia Johnson (aged 19).

- When Bombhead's mother died, David suffered a mental breakdown. Unable to accept her death he continued to act as if she was still alive, doing her dry cleaning and cooking her meals. David's only form of comfort during this time was a recurring hallucination of Gordon Cunningham, who would offer advice and try to convince Bombhead to accept what had happened and ask his friends for help. Cameron had noticed something was wrong with Lee and wanted to help him in return for Bomhead helping him when he attempted suicide. Cameron tried to get David to open up but he refused.
- David's mother's body was eventually discovered by his friend Lee. Lee had gone round to the house thinking it would be empty so he could have sex with his friend Stacey Foxx. Stacey sat down on Mrs Burke's body and screamed Realising what had happened, Lee and Sally convinced Bombhead to move in with the Hunters. After his mother's funeral, Bombhead stopped seeing visions of Mr Cunningham.
- After his mother's death, Bombhead spent considerable time trying to track down his father, a person he only knew through letters his mother had hid from him until her demise. After much effort, it became apparent that he would never succeed. It wasn't until Lee decided to hire a collection of clowns as a fundraising exercise for students at HCC that David would finally meet his father, a clown, of which ironically Bombhead had always suffered an irrational fear.
- Bombhead's friendship would finally come to an end when Lee was turned against him by the evil machinations of Chris, although once he found out what Chris was up to, Lee made up with Bombhead. David decided to leave Hollyoaks and join the circus to live with his father. Bombhead mattered so much to Lee, that after Lee's hearing over diverting college funds, during which Chris used Bombhead joining the circus against Lee, he punched Chris square in the face, saying "This is for Bombhead".

When Louise Summers (who had also been drugged but saved from being rapped by Joe) told Danni the effects of drug rape, Danni recognised the symptoms and realised that she had been raped by Andy.
- Despite confronting him with the truth, Andy refused to admit he had raped her and to make things worse Andy told Russ that Danni slept with him and was trying to accuse of false allegations of rape. A furious Danni told Russ that she had been raped but Russ believed Andy over Danni, as Andy was friends with his brother Sam (who was also in on the rapes).
- Danni reached her lowest point and attempted to jump of the roof of H.C.C but was stopped by fellow victims Mel and Sophie Burton along with Louise. After the 4 victims gave there statements to the police, Andy had disappeared from Hollyoaks and was no where to be found.

Lisa dumped Cameron for Kristian and labelled Cameron as ‘dull’ and soon Cameron had a reputation of being boring.
- Cameron soon went on to join a band with Lee Hunter, Bombhead" Burke and Norman Sankofa, called 'The X Factor', which never quite recovered after Lee began to use explicit lyrics during the performance for a Christening at The Dog. But Cameron’s ambition had always been to be a musician, but pressure from his parents in doing well in getting A grades soon caught up with him.
- As Cameron began to feel that his parents are running his life and he had no choice as he opted to commit suicide (by placing a pipe in his moms car connected to the cars exhaust pie with him still in the car), but Bombhead had came just in time. Both his friends and parents understood and supported Cameron as he decided to do something positive for himself as he selected to do a music course at HCC.
- At the halls, Cameron became a ‘clean freak’ and always would like things kept tidy. Soon, he fell for new tenant Bella Manning and the pair got along, but nothing became of it as she had left HCC.
- But by some bizarre of circumstance, Cameron had caught the eye of Steph Dean. Eventually the pair became an unlikely couple of Hollyoaks and Cameron’s world seem to be on the up, until his behaviour became rather strange. Cameron was seen far too often cleaning the halls and things got from bad to worse when he began to write on the walls. Steph became rather concerned over Cameron behaviour and tried to persuade him to get help but Cameron refused to admit he has a problem.
- After a few moths keeping away from his friends and not facing the outside world, Cameron faced the prospect of losing Steph, rather than admitting he needed help. Eventually he went to the doctor to discover he had O.C.D and Steph supported him through his ordeal.
- As he got better, Steph arranged for Cameron to join a band, which Cameron was delighted to fulfil his long term ambition, but was left shocked to discover it was going to be across Europe.
- After telling Steph, he was prepared to stay, a devastated Steph knew how much it meant to Cameron and persuaded him to join the band as he paid a moving goodbye to the girl who helped him so much in his darkest hours. Lee's friend Bombhead found out what Chris was doing but when he tried to tell Lee, Lee wouldn't believe him. Chris then told Lee about the missing money and blamed Bombhead, which caused Lee and Bombhead to have a massive falling out. Chirs then conspired with Freddy Watson, who had set fire to the H.C.C's media lab for an animal rights demonstration, and tried to pin the fire on Lee. - Freddy Watson - Greg Kelly, 2005
- Freddy studied English literature and was an animal rights campaigner. He arrived in 2005 and had a less than secret admirer in Zara Morgan, an avid protester on anything and everything. He has since shown a sinister side and an obsession with revenge against the college for animal rights. He has been using Zara to do this, Freddy was no longer seen as Zara left after his uncovering. Freddy also conspired with Chris to depose Lee from his presidency, but this backfired when Zara told the student council about the plot, and Freddy's involvement with the HCC Media Lab Fire in December 2005.
- It would appear that along with Zara & Lee (Who were kicked out of HCC for involvement in the Media Lab fire & the laundering of college funds during Lee's presidency), that Chris & Freddy were also kicked out.

She became close friends with Jessica Harris, but lived in her shadow as she was not as outgoing as her or their new friend Steph Dean. She proved to be a good friend to Jessica in her relationship troubles with Mark and Gilly, and began learning to be more assertive as she was often walked all over by others. She and Jessica recently did a naked protest as they were fired from Il Gnosh and then Olivia "accidentally" told a story about Jessica to the newspaper. However, Jessica decided to forgive Olivia and the two stayed friends until Kris (a new student) arrived and saw that Jessica was bossing Olivia around. Kris taught Olivia to stick up for herself and one night at the Dog she told Jessica that she wasn't going to be her slave anymore; this upset Jessica and unfortunately this was their last conversation. Sam Owen came into the pub and set fire to it, a beam fell down onto Olivia pinning her down. When he discovered he had a rival for Jessica's affections in Gilly, Jessica had to admit that she was seeing them both. Eventually after a lot of squabbling between Mark and Gilly, Jessica dumped them both. Although gutted that he had broken up with his teenage sweetheart, he was on the verge of giving up his course for good and move away. After a few wise words from Olivia Johnson, Mark decide he was going to move on but not throw away his future and moved out to get away from Jessica.
- Jeremy "Jez" Peterson - Simon Cole, 2005-2006

He is fascinated with computers and is studying computer design. He is very naive where money is concerned, which has led flatmate Joe to take advantage - even stealing money from Jez and taking out a credit card in his name to buy new materials for the clothing business. - His money troubles have spiraled out of control and he has resulted to fraud by taking out a credit card in flatmate Jez's name. Jez is oblivious to this and also brought him a laptop after Joe's was "stolen". Although he & Danni were forced to leave the student flat they shared with Zara & Jez to make room for Jessica & Olivia, it would appear he moved back into the flat after Zara (& Jessica's ex-boyfriend Mark) moved out.
- Before College restarted in September 2006 he found out he, Ollivia and Jessica had to move out to make room for new students. Joe recognised the name of one of the students as Zoe, a girl he use to date in High School but he dumped her because she was fat. Joe tried to bribe the students with drinks but with no luck. Joe made it up to Zoe by telling her he regretted dumping her in High School and then they went to the dog together with Kris, Jessica and Olivia.
- Joe died that night in the Pub fire started by Sam Owen. Joe, had theorised that the only safe way out would be through the basement. After successfully getting Kris & Zoe out, he went back for Olivia, who had been pinned under a beam just behind the bar. Before Joe left he told Zoe that he already lost her once, and he wasn't going to again. Upon finding Olivia, Joe freed her, but the bottles of liquor behind the bar exploded, killing both of them. Zoe tried to ring Joe's phone and heard his ring tone, she & Kris followed it. They found it coming from a group of body bags. Joe died a hero, trying to save Olivia.

Scott began to have his one night stands, with sixteen year old Steph Dean, but soon got bored of her and dumped her. His attentions became closer to Izzy Cornwell, and made several attempts to seduce her and at one time it went too far. Scott would not let go off Izzy and Beth drove towards Scott and knocks him down whilst driving. This cost Scott his chances of playing in the World Cup and he never played football again because of an injury. Beth Morgan was sentenced for six months, whilst Scott has taken a break but returned in spectacular style as the new owner of The Loft!
- Many residents of Hollyoaks, mainly Izzy, tried to protest against Scott, but he insisted that he is a changed man for the better. With Murders happening around the village, Scott became a heavily suspect when he was arrested but was cleared of any charge. Scott tried to convince Izzy that he had learnt his lessons and is leading a new life, but she still was unforgiving towards him. Trouble was also alerted for Scott as Ben Davies had became a rival in Chester with Ben dating his beloved Izzy.
- He then began to show two sides of his character, one where he was caring as he supported Ellie Hunter through her problems and the other was when he led Matt Musgrove in being arrested for handling doggy fake notes. There was to be another blow for Scott, when Ben and Izzy announced that they were set to get married and Scott was desperate to persuade Izzy not to marry him. After discovering from Emma Chambers, Scott told Izzy that Ben had a one-night stand with Emma and that she is carrying their child, in a bid to stop Izzy marrying Ben. Despite that, it did not stop Ben and Izzy getting married, which had left Scott devastated.
- A few months later, Izzy suffered a miscarriage and was told that she could never have any children as she struggled to cope seeing Ben with Emma’s child, Arthur, around. Izzy confided her feelings with Scott and did the unthinkable as she slept with him. Scott hopes were raised, as this maybe the path that he can finally be together with the girl of his dreams.
- However, it wasn’t meant to be after Izzy told Scott that she only slept with him so she can cut all ties with Ben. A desperate Scott asked Izzy to give him another chance, but she did not want to know as Izzy left to make a fresh start away from Hollyoaks. Scott felt needless to stay in Chester after Izzy’s exit but was in for another surprise when his bar worker Darren had stitched Scott up a credit card scam.
- Knowing it was Darren who stitched him up, Scott decided to teach him a lesson by locking the doors of The Loft and setting fire to the place. Scott fell over the stairs at the Loft and pleaded to Darren for help, but Darren refused to help and had managed to make his way out. Thinking that Scott was left for dead, Darren phoned the police but was shocked when no trace of Scott had been found.

- Laura then became friends with Mandy Richardson but then she began to develop an unhealthy obsession with Mandy’s life, which reached its peak when she started dating Luke Morgan. After the relationship fizzled out, Laura continued to drive a wedge between Mandy and Luke, and seemed to enjoy the problems Mandy had when Mandy's brother Lewis Richardson committed suicide. After Mandy and her mother Helen became estranged, Laura filled the gap and enjoyed being part of the Cunningham family.
- As Laura continued to control Mandy, Laura's brother Brendan had arrived in the village and started calling her Kerry but Laura refused to recognise him. Laura wanted to get away from Hollyoaks and decide to go Cape Town, and take Mandy with her. However, when Mandy felt suspicious and rejected Laura, Laura reacted by hitting a glass bottle on her head.
- Laura continued to taunt Mandy as she locked Mandy and herself in Mandy’s flat, until Tony arrived with Becca Hayton, Max Cunningham, Adam Morgan and Brendan to rescue Mandy and get some help for Laura. It turned out that Laura’s real name was Kerry, and Laura was taken from her best friend’s name who had died tragically at the age of 11. Kerry was still recovering from that, and since then, Kerry found Mandy as a replacement to Laura and had more feeling for Mandy than a friend and had tried to keep Mandy to herself.

- But the major worry for Dion was Jason’s wife to be Geri Hudson who had been treated roughly by Jason and threatened to go to the press unless she receives a heavy payment. Dion was clearly aware that if Jason pays Geri, he knew that would affect his payment as agent and therefore he would have to reach an agreement with Geri.

Geri however, had the last laugh after confessing to her mother and than failing to sign a contact agreement on her wedding day with Jason, which allowed Geri to take Jason for every penny he was worth.
