Many papers in circulation, categorized as state-owned below, are owned by the government through Lakehouse Press[citation needed]. Private news papers are operated by various companines, of which The Standard Newspapers Pvt. Ltd, Upali Newspapers and Wijeya Newspapers are three of the largest[citation needed].

  • Lakbima (ලක්බිම) - privately owned, daily
