List of films featuring Mini cars

Both the original 1959-2000 Austin/Morris Mini car, and its successor the BMW MINI have been widely used in movies as props or as major story elements, below is a list of movies in which Mini/MINI cars are featured.

While The Italian Job, its remake The Italian Job (2003 film) and the New Zealand cult movie Goodbye Pork Pie are arguably the best known English language films where the Mini takes on a leading role, there are many other films in which these cars participate in the action:

  • Lords of Dogtown (2005) a red Mini with a sign on the top is seen in the background when some of the skateboarders are on tour in Europe.
  • Munich (film) (2005) When the Mossad Squad are in London, a Mini drives past Avner
  • If Only (2004) includes a red Mini.
  • Hotel Rwanda (2004) has a cameo appearance of a Mini in the background.
  • Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) Deleted scene features a Mini cooper.
  • The Italian Job (2003 film) mostly features new MINIs - but has a cameo part for a red and white classic Mini.
  • Rock My World (2002) has a classic BRG Mini 1275 GT used in various scenes throughout the movie where the paper delivery guy times himself as he races to deliver the newspaper to Peter O'Tooles' estate in a cloud of dust and gravel.
  • The First $20 Million Is Always the Hardest (2002) contains a classic Mini parked in a long line of expensive sportscars. The same car reappears in movie the form of a radio controlled toy!
  • The Bourne Identity (film) (2002) another great car chase with a very beat up (mostly) red Mini.
  • Plots with a View (2002) includes a yellow 1985 'Picadilly'.
  • Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch (2002). The bad guys drive a MkI Mini Countyman - losing control, smashing through a fence and ending up in a pond.
  • I Spy (film) (2002) As the characters of Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy are fighting (after the girl suposedly got blown up) there is a blue MkIII in the backround.
  • Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001). In Laura Croft's garage there are a bunch of exotic cars and bikes - including a Mini. Regrettably, they all get crushed when the house is trashed by the bad guys.
  • Bridget Jones's Diary (2001 film) has a snow-covered Mk II Mini.
  • Wasabi (film) (2001) a dark coloured Mini 1100.
  • The 51st State (aka Formula 51) (2001) had a beat-up looking red and yellow Mini - it has a 1982 license plate.
  • The Avengers (film) (1998) another MkII.
  • The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997) has a nice car chase involving a BRG/W classic Mini.
  • Guardian Angels (film) (1995) has a red Mini.
  • Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) has a red mini in it when they have to race to the church.
  • Shallow Grave (1994) Ewan McGregor drives a Dk Green Mini Cooper.
  • Mr. Bean (1990) drove an orange Morris Mini in the first show, then a lime green MkIII with a black bonnet through the rest of the series.
  • Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). Tom Selleck drives a Mini (and also gets a ride in a Morris Minor Estate).
  • Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) has another really nasty Mini in it. It was probably once blue - but...well...not anymore.
  • Goodbye Pork Pie (1981) a teenager rents a yellow Mini (nicknamed 'Pork Pie') and takes it through a series of adventures in New Zealand that feature some great car chase sequences. This is believed to be the only movie to be named after the starring Mini!
  • Chinese in Paris (1974) shows a dark coloured MkII.
  • Day for Night (film) (1973) has an almond green MkI Super-Deluxe.
  • Turkish Delight (film) (1973) has an orange 1275 Clubman GT.
  • The Wicker Man (1973) The Mini makes an all-too-brief cameo in the opening scenes as a police car in which Edward Woodward takes a trip from his water-landing aeroplane back to his local nick.
  • Take it Easy, It's a Waltz (1971) has a Mustard yellow MkII Mini.
  • Take the Money and Run (1969) Woody Allen film with a short scene of a Mini being driven inside an apartment.
  • The Italian Job (1969) became synonymous with the classic Mini from its climactic chase scene between the Italian police and 3 MkII Minis in and around Turin.
  • Magical Mystery Tour (1967) John Lennon uses George Harrison's psychedelic painted Radford Mini de Ville to take part in a race.
  • The Upper Hand (1966) has a red Mk I.
  • A Shot in the Dark (1964) One of the Pink Panther series. Peter Sellers drives a A Radford Mini de Ville with wicker-work sides.
  • Doctor in Distress (1963) The main character (played by British actor Dirk Bogarde) parks his Mini in the space reserved for his new boss's car.

  • 36, Quai des Orfèvres (2004) includes a white Mk II.
  • Un petit jeu sans conséquence (2004) has a BRG/W Mini in several background shots.
  • Torrente 2: Misión en Marbella (2001) has a red/white Mini that suffers some serious indignities - losing its roof due a failed attempt to drive under an 18 wheeler.

  • L'emmerdeur (1973) has a Mini Clubman.
