List of federal subjects of Russia by area

Here is a list of the 88 federal subjects of Russia in order of size. Values are given using SI (metric) units. According to reports from the 2002 Census, the total area of Russia is 17,075,400 km² (6,592,849 mi²).
- Sakha Republic: 3,103,200 km²;
- Krasnoyarsk Krai: 2,339,700 km² (includes Evenk and Taymyr Autonomous Okrugs; without the autonomous okrugs: 710,000 km²);
- Tyumen Oblast: 1,435,200 km² (includes Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs; without the autonomous okrugs: 161,800 km²);
- Taymyr Autonomous Okrug: 862,100 km² (also included in Krasnoyarsk Krai total);
- Khabarovsk Krai: 788,600 km²;
- Irkutsk Oblast: 767,900 km² (includes Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug; without the autonomous okrug: 745,500 km²);
- Evenk Autonomous Okrug: 767,600 km² (also included in Krasnoyarsk Krai total);
- Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: 750,300 km² (also included in Tyumen Oblast total);
- Chukotka Autonomous Okrug: 737,700 km²;
- Arkhangelsk Oblast: 587,400 km² (includes Nenets Autonomous Okrug; without the autonomous okrug: 410,700 km²);
- Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug: 523,100 km² (also included in Tyumen Oblast total);

Thus, Tyumen Oblast includes Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs; Krasnoyarsk Krai includes Taymyr and Evenk Autonomous Okrugs, and so forth. Wherever this is the case, the nesting region's area is given with all the nested components included.
