Cambodia is a multi-ethnic country with over twenty distinct groups. Many of the local ethnic groups are known collectively as Montagnards or Khmer Loeu, a word meaning "Highland Khmer". These Khmer Loeu have a history of mistreatment by the majority Khmer people.

  • Chinese- the largest group of ethnic minorities in Cambodia
  • Jarai - the majority of the Jarai are located in Vietnam
  • Kachok
  • Khmer Krom - Ethnic Vietnamese located in Southeastern Cambodia
  • Khmer Sarin - Ethnic Khmer located in Northwestern Cambodia
  • Krung - there are three distinct dielects of Krung. All are mutually intelligible.
